...got gamepad or joystick? I didn't manage to handle a chopper until I got an (old) thrustmaster gamepad; it works fine for me and flying a chopper is as much fun as flying a plane since then!

two things here:
you can't land a heli unless you have 20 frames a second - the stutters slow up your control response and you crash
Also when you land - pitch up and control the throttle so you don't climb - as you come down - you will slow - just before you land enter a hover by reducing yr forward movement to nil and throttle back to just hovering - then slowly reduce throttle and you will settle to the ground. Its all about slow and steady and carefull throttle and pitch control.
Last point - if you tip on your side you need more right yaw pressure to counteract the blades motion. I forget the tchnical name for it.
all the best - it takes heaps of practice

...well: I'm a bit ashamed but I have my fps locked at 14 and most of the time around 10 fps (I don't wanna miss the nice scenery even on my notebook) and flying/landing a chopper smoothly is no problem at all.
Cheers

It really helps having at least 20 fps...
I can land even with the mouse without any problems, but only when my framerates are above 25 fps which fortunately is most of the time.
If you want to play on a notebook, then get a gaming notebook which are not that expensive this days.
Cheers!
