FEX FSX SP2 Compaitable?

Postby Flying Mouse » Wed Jan 23, 2008 1:30 am

I hear people say this is by far one of the best freeware add-ons, my question is:

Is it compatible with FSX SP2 Acc?

Thanking helpers in advance!

Ummm, what add-on are you referring to? FEX? What is that ... Fed-Ex? If that is the aircraft you are talking about, which version?

I might have the name wrong, it is a program that enhances the visuals of clouds, runways ect..

Yes the X in FEX is intentionally similar to FSX...

Its Flight Environment X... basically a program that highly details everything from your weather, to your sunsets/rises... to your water.

I just purchased and downloaded it today.  I haven't really got a chance to fool around with it much, but from what I've seen so far it looks really nice.  I'm running FSX w/Acceleration and haven't experienced any problems as of yet.

Now here's a dumb question. NickN sometimes mentions 'GEX'. What is that?

I think it's Ground Environment X.  It's on the same same site as the FEX (Flight1).  I think there are only scenery textures for USA and Canada though.

Hey guys sorry to bleat.....but if you had used the search function at the top of the site you would find many references to each of these.

Nick and others say that,

Flight Environment X (sky textures)
Ground Environment X (yep ground)
Active Sky X (a really great weather programme)
Ultimate Terrain USA
Ultimate Terrain Canada (these two have a small SP2 patch to download and install.

These all go together to make an unbelievably rich landscape for North America - and also improve the rest of the world.  (the Cloud 9 landclass is better than the default)

Soon there will be the first of the FTX sceneries for Australia.

And remember use upgraded mesh under these.

But....use Search first.

First off, thanks for clearing up all the confusion regarding all of the abreviations.... ;)

Second, I did try doing a search for 'GEX', but all I got were a bunch of abbreviations, and not one definition. Maybe I didn't use the right searchwords... :-[

But anyhoo, thanks again... 8-)

Hey all, I have also downloaded GEX and plan to also add FEX. My question as a newbie is this...when you refer to needing "mesh" under these "environments" do you mean downloading specific areas? I wondered about this. Do I still download hi res textures for locals such as specific cities or is Ground Enviro X so good that it's pointless?
