Frame hesitation

Postby Purplehaze65 » Fri Feb 01, 2008 4:01 pm

The game runs smoothly on my machine for the most part.  When I am in the game the screen will occaisonally freeze momentarily.  I notice that there is always hard drive activity going on when this happens.  Is there some setting I can change to smooth this out?  Thanks in advance

There are just two possible solutions:

- the most important is to defrag your harddrive with a tool like O&O Defrag for example (the default Windows defrag is bad). Once the drive is defragmented, the disk accesses will be much faster, so those freezes will be smaller. The game load time will be improved as well

- add more RAM to your PC. 2Gb is nice, 3Gb max on 32 bit systems. The drive often works because the RAM is full and memory data has to be written/read from the hd.

This has been an age old problem in many simulations and funnily enough different things have helped different systems.
The most common fix is adjusting your Pre Render limit, which you should set to 3. Now there are a number ways of doing this because this is not a standard setting by the display card manufacturers.
The easiest way is using nHancer which you can get http://www.nhancer.com/.
Here is also another forum post that really helped.

Unfortunatly this problem is a hit or miss type of fix.

Hope I was of some help.
