Throttle problems

Postby alb469 » Thu Jan 24, 2008 1:23 pm

I installed the Camsim 797 and it flies very well except for the throttle, weather in auto or manual it will not slow down, the speed keeps increasing even with the throttles all the way back. makes it difficult to land unless you use speed brakes and then flaps. Have  tried new panels, different autopilots, engine settings etc etc. I think I have solved the problem by changing the air file for a 777 air file. What in the air file is causing the throttle problem? You should not have to use the speed brakes to slow it down to around 220 knots, the throttle should be capable of doing that. It would be nice to know what in the air file is causing this. :-/

Strictly a guess it might be something in the engine section or it might be a auto throttle problem. I am not even sure if there is a .air file editor for FSX yet. You might be able to use AIRED but like I said I am not sure.
It has been a while since I have messed around with a .air file. 8-)

On looking into the airfile there are two entrys that seem unique to camsim aircraft, at least I have never noticed them before. One is "jet power curve" which is a graph.and I have no idea how to edit it. The other  is "jet engine" in it are a lot of different settings. One that looked like it might have something to do with the problem is throttle calibration, default setting at 3440. I tried another camsim aircraft and it showed the same problem. But do I change the throttle cal setting up or down? Perhaps someone who knows what I am talking about  could help. This is just guess work on my part as far as the throttle cal setting is concerned. :-/

After further testing and getting nowhere I remembered an article from fs9. If you want to increase speed make the inlet area smaller or to decrease speed make it larger. Look in the cfg engine sections and try varying the "inlet_area" size. It seems to have cured my problem. :)
