I'm really jealous

Ok, I have seen these screen shots from FSX, and they basically look real? How the heck do I get FS to look real? When I turn the graphics up the game gets skippy and all of the mountains and buildings get all weird and see through and everything. I have 2 gigs of RAM, a big enough hard drive, and decent video card, and a decent CPU... I think. But I'd really like good graphics and for the game to run smoothly with good graphics. Help please? Thanks.

I don't understand. Would that help the jumpiness and glitchiness of the game with settings turned up..? Thanks.

ah right I thought you had a decent PC and disappointed with default textures in FS-X.

What is your PC spec, monitor native resolution, settings in FS-X- resolution, using AA, Antristropic etc

Two gigs of RAM, 2.2 CPU, over 150G of hard drive, and NVIDEA Gforce 7600 GS. My FSX Resolution 1024x768x32. What's AA and Antiristopic? and what else would you need to know? Thanks.

I'm afraid your videocard isn't up to the job. Also what CPU? Celeron, Athlon A64, Intel Core Duo 2?

aw man. uh, how do I figure out the CPU? and how much do you have to spend on a video card to get the best results from FSX? Flight lessons in a real 172 are probably cheeper.

Download CPU-Z, it'll give info about your PC. If it's a Celeron forget good performance in FS-X. As for videocard I'd say

Basically, no one at this point in time, is able to run FSX fully maxed out, in fact very few people can run it on its higher settings. For your pc, I think you should be able to get decent frame rates at just about medium-high settings. Also, you may want to read the "FSX FAQS" (it is a sticky at the top of this forum) look at some of the tweaks.

OK, thank you. But even on the medium high settings, the scenery is all weird. It is see through in someplaces and the ground is really weird. Could you post a screen shot on the ground at an airport please? Thanks. (Yankees rock, NY pizza rocks)

Can you provide a screenshot yourself? Load up FRAPS, change the screenshot key to one not designated in FS. It'll save in \program files\fraps. BMP files. Upload onto Photobucket and post a link here.

Mermaid Man,

That's a realy nice shot above.  What are you using for add-on scenery programs?

Don't use FRAPS. It'll actually take away FPS lol. When you load up a flight on FSX, press CTRL+Z at the same time, twice, and at the top left corner of the monitor you should see a frame counter. Use that instead. Anything about 18-20FPS is considered "reasonable".

Keep in mind that FSX is not about FPS though. Nick will and has said this plenty of times already. You may be getting 20FPS with very smooth gameplay, but 40FPS with choppy gameplay full of stutters. It's all about how you set up your system for the game.

Your system is capable of running it at medium settings and smooth play. It's not something you'll get down in one day, or one week, but something that takes months, depending on how much time you spend playing around with the settings and tweaks. Focus on the smoothness of it, and not the FPS.

So, read the FSX stickies at the top of this forum and learn to tweak the fsx.cfg file and how to play with settings afterwards.

Looks real to me, Nick  ;)

I'm not really understanding Davoos problem. I'd rather see it for myself

Davoos load up a flight somewhere and midflight press the "v" key. Go to your pictures folder, then the FSX folder and post the screenie on here.
