So I did all the above steps to get a clean install for the whole package. For some reason though it looks like it overwrote what I took off because the Hawk AC package I put on was still in my AC list. No big deal there.


I went to run one of the new missions from acceleration. It loaded. I moved the AC into posistion. I got the blue screen of death. 3 different times with only acceleration stuff.

Then I thought, maybe it was something in my settings. So, I hit the default settings button and everything bumped up to max sliders. Here's where it got weird for me.

Playing a FSX mission on max sliders was crystal clear ,0 studder, max slider amazing!! FSX mission not Acceleration. This has to be a fluke after all the things I have read from Nicks posts about needing a 8-10 grand rig to run this thing right. Surley my 2.4 Q6600 (not OC'd), 4 gigs DDR2 memory and 8800GTS SSC w/612 gDDR3 aren't making this possible. Not after what I've been reading.


Anyway back to Acceleration. On the box for recommended specs it wants 4 gigs of memory. On FSX I can't remember. Could it be that Acceleration doesn't know I have 4 gigs and is shutting me down to the screen of death before I can even throttle up? If so, Why isn't doing it to FSX? If this is the problem, is there a solution to fix this?

I am sensing by your tone this has

A. Been asked over 1000 + times
   My apologies. I have had to start all over again and just need a push in the right direction

OR

B.  The fact that my rig really isn't supposed to run FSX like it is and that I should be ok with the dissapointment.

Either way I can handle it. Just need a little guidence to get this right.

I am in the middle of graphics production work so I do not have time to comment in detail but I do want to say something, right now

At no time did I ever post or say it took a 8-10K machine to run FSX, never. I do not like being quoted with exaggerations.

What I posted back in JUNE of last year was it takes a 3-4K machine (not including a wide screen monitor which FSX is designed for) AT THAT POINT IN TIME being the system I was running was cutting edge DDR3. That same system today can be had for about 1/2.

No, I was laughing about hitting default and the sliders going to max. I have never seen that one before.

A mission is NOT free flight. A mission restricts to just the variables (models, traffic, weather, etc) its asked to display.


Here, you set your rig up to these settings and boot the default 747 at Seattle KSEA under REAL WORLD WEATHER conditions (non static) Fly out of 34R toward Seattle and over it, then circle around and land back at 16L KSEA






Set the monitor to your correct scale

You saying you are running with bloom enabled? MAX requires you enable bloom.









I run 7cm Texture res because of the high res GEX textures installed. But they are not 7cm, they are 60cm. Streets, runways and taxiways also appear sharper at 7cm but it comes with a cost.

You should be at 1m

You should not be running Water any higher than 2XLOW and only higher if not in city areas

Your autogen should be at DENSE, possibly VERY DENSE but not 100% in urban cities, thats for sure








I use default traffic right now. I doubt you should try any higher than 30% AL and GA, also, your cars at 8%, boats and ships at 25%-25%


Run my rig settings first. If you can maintain 30-35FPS, talk to me about the rig running FSX maxed out, otherwise come up with another 2 grand and I can make the settings above happen for you.

And if you really want a shock, try LAX on my settings and fly out over LA

People run arond saying "buy a cheaper processor and overclock it..." well, thats what you get, cheap performance. Most kids in the hardware forums think because the can buy a Q6600 and overclock it to 3.5gig they can outdo a QX processor. They have no idea how wrong they are.

First off let me just apologize for the misquote about the rig pricing. I was just trying to convey that for what I have and what it really takes to run it, there is no way it should of done what it did,

Second, what I did to make it run the way it did was, the section where you can see the building, ac, terrain, etc, the little pictures next to the sliders, I hit the restore defaults and it took all of those sliders to the right. At this point in the day I don't recall going to any other screen for settings as the thing kept crashing on me and just wanted to make sure it was running right. I picked a mission, I flew the landing one where you fly over the cruise ship to land (whatever the he ll that one is) and it was georgeous. Wish I would of taken screens as proof. If you say it's due to set varables I believe you. I just didn't understand it at the time.

Third, I know my New Rig in no way shape or form will run it at max. Especially now that I understand the set mission standards for said missions. It looked really good at the time but now that I know better I fully expect Commodor 64 type results until I can come up with said 1-2 G's more to correct the fun filled issues known as FSX.


I will try these suggested screens above just to get the results out of the way, live with the dissapointment and move on. What's key to having it at least work so I can half way fly nice right now is the link provided for it to recognize all of my memory.

I know what I saw last night. Now that I know why, I understand I won't see it anywhere else but in the set missions. If even there.


Again, I publically apologize for any misrepresentations. I only wish to learn.


Side Note- When booting Vista. I get a screen that tells me the name of my rig and also that it recognizes 4 gigs of memory. That being said, do I still need to do what your link suggests? Or since Vista sees it, FSX should see it too............

My primary concern was with your initial post and how you are running maxed with no issues. People read these forums and many of them assume things. And yes, I do get annoyed when someone uses my name and makes a quote if that quote is not correct. Anyone would.

Also, your first post make a lot of assumptions without questions and also states things that are simply not the case which you now understand.

Just took care of the wife as she is not feeling well. Back on point now, My brother just loaded the latest and greatest drivers from Dec 20th. I take it I don't want to use those? At least yet?

and yes, always use nhancer and set it up as I outlined very carefully


If you are not using Nhancer, nvidia is controlling FSX no matter what settings you use in the drivers or in FSX

So Nhanser is a seperate porgram? How can I see what drivers I have?
