i have a problem with at least two of my aircraft where in virtual cockpit the windshields are not transparent...it looks like very rough fiberglass covering all windows...does anyone know what could cause this to happen and how to fix the problem...below is a screen shot of one of my aircraft with this problem...

I have two bits of advice:
#1) Take the cover off your plane before you go flying.
Seriously, though:
#2) Specify which specific aircraft models you are talking about... you will get better results sooner that way.

Check the FAQ "Clean FSX, Acceleration, SP1 & SP2 Install!" at the top of the fourm, scroll down page 1 of my instructions and posts to find the VC windshield fix for older FS9 aircraft. You can download vcrain.zip and install the FS9 vc rain files and that should fix the rain in FSX and the windshield problem


Otherwise run the posted tool in the FAQ and that will make the windshield clear but not restore VC rain

the one pictured is the Alphasim A-6 Intruder Pack 1...the other model that seems to do this is the Viper F-16 by Kirk Olsson...

i clicked on the "Flight Simulator X FAQs!" post and got to a list of FAQs for various fixes and info in FSX...the page starts with "Tips and Tweaks for..." then the FSX banner...i'm not sure where you are directing me...i see you posted something about Nvidia drivers, but that's the only link off of the FAQs page i see that has your name on it...i might not be looking in the right direction, so can ya point me?...thank you!


EDIT: the vcrain.zip did not fix the problem of no clear windshield

EDIT 2: call me blind, but i didn't notice which FAQ link you were pointing me to until just now...ok, as of now, i'm going to check that FAQ and report back a success or failure...thank you!

ok, i ran the utility and even tried the vcrain.zip as i stated in my edit to my last post...problem not fixed...any other ideas? :-?

Not sure what the problem is then. The two solutions I posted should have worked, one or both.

i'll look into all of these possibilities and maybe even an update from Alphasim...i must admit, though, the three fixes from Phil Taylor's blog don't seem easy at all...i'm not even sure how to go about attempting them...

I had the same problem with Kirk's F-16. The canopy was all green. Guess FSX SP2 doesint compliment those older models.

It is a pitty.
