Did anyone check DirectX10 w WinXP and SP2?

So here's the question...,
I once found some kind of DirectX 10 for WinXP on the net, someone here posted a link that time. So my question is:

Did anyone tried it and installed it on his WinXP system?
Now that SP2 for FSX is out it might be woth a test..., but I don't wanna ruin my system.

Cheers,
Fabian

And I don't want to ruin my system either. :D

Really I would want DX10 on my XP. Isn't it better to have DX10 on a Vista? :-/

Absolutely.
Any hack to enable some DX10 features

Yes WinXP wasn't meant to run on as a DX10 system.

That's the No. 1 selling argument for Vista  [smiley=evil.gif]

NIckN has posted on this, and also Phil Taylor , and they make it clear that this does not replicate Dx10 with any accuracy.  Dx10 comes embedded with, and only with, Vista.  No Vista no DX10 even if you have installed Acceleration with the patch.

And you need a DX10 ready video card like the 8800 series Nvidia.

So for DX10 you need the following,

Vista + Acceleration or SP2 + a DX10 ready video card.

All of them.  And the other hack is just a hack.

Not to menton that a lot of us who use Vista and have DX10 capabilities, don't even use it because of the problems with Vista/nVidia/FSX.

I guess when I said a lot of people don't use it, I should have specified that not using it means shutting off the DX10 preview.  Sorry to upset you.

Yes and I too have unchecked the DX10 preview. It's more trouble than its worth.

Which means my investment in Vista was unnecessary.

Because it is automatically using DX9 as a result.

But its too late to go back to XP.

$220 here in Aus.

I reckon more important customers than me will force MS to come out with SP1 (which is in beta I think).

I'll wait for that and give it a try.  But in fairness Vista is less and less of a problem the more powerful the CPU.
