I just recently installed SP1 and SP2. The result was that a few minutes after starting a flight, the monitor freezes. The sound continues but I am unable to do anything else. It won't even respond to Control/Alt/Delete command. My mouse pointer turns to hourglass. since the only change I did was to install SP! and SP2, I uninstalled them and that corrected the problem. Anyone experiencing similar problem?

The only freeze up problem I had with FSX+SP2 was under XP. It would feeeze on me when I tried to access the menu bar.   After searching a few forums, one person suggested that if you use FRAPS to chart fps, don't use it with FSX and see what happens.  Since I did use FRAPS, I tried FSX without it and I haven't had a problem accessing the menu bar since.  For verification purposes, I used FRAPS one more time and it did freeze on me again.   So on XP, I simply use the built in fps feature to see what fps I'm getting so that I don't have to worry about freeze ups anymore.  For whatever reason, I can use FRAPS under Vista with no problems getting the menu bar, but not in XP.

FRAPS causing crashes is a known issue with FSX. It should be uninstalled.

Also, later nvidia drivers, especially with 7000 series video cards will cause the system to crash when the menu is accessed

That is a driver issue specific to Nvidia. The current workaround is to use Window mode when accessing menus if your system shows those symptoms.

Other possibilities, You must make sure you have the the lastest DirectX update installed for FSX..

also, make sure you have the latest C++ library update installed

The driver version of the video card is important for SP2, make sure you have the latest installed.
