Virtual Cockpits

I am fairly new to FSX - but loving every minute of it!

I'm now trying to explore new possibilities by downloading aircraft from the net. I've had no trouble in doing that, but all the aircraft have 2D cockpits.

Is there anyway of changing them to VC's? I am only interested in props at the moment.

Cheers

You are switching to the Virtual Cockpit view, correct?

Some aircraft do not have interactive virtual cockpits. Most of the time, it will be mentioned in the addon description.

Unfortunately, you will see that, due to the complexity of modelling a VC, most freeware planes have only a 2D cockpit. When it comes to the descriptions, they are most of the time quite incomplete, and sometimes they refer to the history of the real plane instead of the description of the virtual one.

However, the "expert downloaders" (  ;D ) have some tricks. You can for example use download sites like flightsim.com or avsim.com that let you have a look directly into the archive files before download. You can then take a look to the "panel.cfg" file to check if any [VCockpit.x] section can be found. If this is the case, then most likely the aircraft has a VC.

Now if you do not want to perform those checks, I can at least recommend you the aircrafts made by Tim Conrad (use his name for Search). This guy did a lot of outstanding addons with nice VC inside.

Maybe I should have re-phrased that. Usually, if an aircraft has a good VC, it will be mentioned in the description.

But yeah, if the description doesn't mention a VC, or if there is only a brief history of the aircraft and doesn't mention the addon features at all, don't expect there to be a VC ;)

Guys...thanks for taking the time to reply!! I have been switching to VC view, but I understand the problem now. I had a suspicion that it was due to the aircraft designs rather than anything I was or wasn't doing.

Thanks for the tips....I will check them out and see if I have better luck.

Thanks again.
