Shift-Z display color

Shift-Z display color

Postby NimbleLooper » Sat Jan 05, 2008 9:44 am

I changed my Aircraft label color to Dark Blue (display settings/Aircraft) and to me it's much better than the default color red.  Is it possible to change the Shift-Z display color from red to another color?

I think so, never tried though.

First, go to either:
C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX
C:\Users\\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX

(the second one is for Vista, but I'm not so sure about it)

Anyway, in there, open the fsx.cfg file.

Find this line using find (Ctrl + F):
InfoUpperRightTextColor=255,0,0

I think with that, you can change the colours.  Note, left to right, the numbers are red, green, blue, so at the moment, red is at full, with no other colours.  If you want green, then 0,255,0.  If you want blue, 0,0,255.

I think that's it.  Lemme know if it works ;)

Thanks Str1ker.  I'm new at tweaking stuff and have looked at FAQs etc but I'm not sure what to do now that I've found fsx.cfg and made the change and then clicked File\Save.,  The display is still red when I start FSX.  Should I have saved the file to a safe place b4 the change?  Should I delete the file from FSX folder?  Help

Are you sure it worked Paul?  I just figured out that Striker's suggested modification changed the view info to blue (which appears for a couple of seconds in the upper right screen).  But shift-Z is upper left and on mine is still red.  What gives?

Ah, my bad, should be:
InfoUpperLeftTextColor=255,0,0

Sorry, i mixed up left with right.  i have partial lysdexia, i mean dyslexia...

I don't see that line of code in the cfg file.  If you don't know the answer, just say so.
Does anyone else know?

ActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255
ActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=0,28,140,64
NonActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255
NonActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=24,33,87,64
InfoUpperRightTextColor=255,0,0
InfoUpperRightBackGroundColor=0,0,0,0
InfoLowerLeftTextColor=255,255,255
InfoLowerLeftBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128
InfoLowerRightTextColor=255,255,255
InfoLowerRightBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128

Those are all the colour setting values.  Try changing all of them to blue.  Also, you can try adding InfoUpperLeftTextColor=0,0,255

[TextInfo.2]
FrameRate=1,1
LockedFrameRate=1,2
GForce=1,3
FuelPercentage=1,4

There's also this section, which seems to define what is shown depending on what level of Shift+Z you've used, but it doesn't seem to have colour indication there either.

I don't even know if there is a way of doing it, but I'm pretty sure there must be a way, since other colours are changeable...

After searching the net for an answer to this, it appears that there is no  way to change the upper left (shift+z) text color.

If someone else has any additional input on this, please enlighten us. :)
