installing missions in FSX

Postby nbrettoner » Fri Jan 04, 2008 2:20 am

:(

Hi,

Having downloaded several missions, I find that for the last several weeks none of them show up in-game.
I think I've followed the install directions, but these have been quite brief (in the readme file)

Can someone please advise me as to the correct method of missions installation, & explain "what-goes-where"?.
I suspect I'm missing doing something, or not installing the 'correct' way?.

All help greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi garymbuska,

Not as yet, but when I get a moment I'll have a look.
Are there instructions in the SDK, concerning how to correctly install missions??.

Has anyone else had problems installing missions, & if so, what was the answer to the problem, please.

regards,

To install the missions all you have to do is add the BGL file into the Addon Scenery/Scenery folder.

Personally  would do it another way, to keep things cleaner. Create a folder in your FSX root folder called Added Missions, inside that create a new folder called Scenery. Place all your misions in the scenery folder. Now open FSX, go into Settings and select Scenery Library. Click Add Area and find the Added Missions folder. Hit OK and wait for the scenery files to be built. Now when ever you donwload a mission, add it into the Added Missions/Scenery folder

Hi Wingo,

Now that makes sense.
I'll give that a go.

From what you say, the 'normal/default' way, is to unzip each mission directly into the
'missions' folder, then copy that mission's ".bgl" file into Addon Scenery/Scenery?.
Should I have 'moved' the mission's ".bgl" file instead of just copying it?.

Anyway, I'll set up new folders & move a downloaded mission into there, then add the mission & see how that goes. As you suggest.

Thank you guys, much appreciated.

kind regards,

From what I've seen it is only the BGL you have to place, everything is contained in that. Any other files are just a few images and some helpful manuals
