quick question

If you're using the autopilot, yes.
Make sure you're in GPS mode and not NAV. Then press the "NAV" or "VORLOC" button (depending on what aircraft you're flying) and then the autopilot master switch and it will stay on track. Just make sure you are on GPS MODE.
