Startup panel size

I've had a problem for quite a while that I can't pin down a solution to.  Whenever I start a flight, no matter what plane, the panel does not take up the full screen.  I have the scenery showing on the top of the screen and to the right.

I've been correcting it by simply streching it up and over, but when I do, and select a different view then go back to the main panel view, the scenery behind disappears.  It eventually comes back after changing views, but I'm still curious why it happens.

At the moment I don't have the file name handy, but it's easy...every addon aircraft I have does the same thing.  All my FSX-standard planes are ok.

I'll post the aircraft.cfg for the 1900 if you can tell from there where the problem is.

The plane is a Verona Beech 1900D, I found the file through a Google Search for the 1900 D when I found the airport I live less than a mile away from (KPHF) flew in and out of there. the file is 1900D.zip and is available on avsim through a link on the website at http://www.voronaaviation.com/fleetfsxpassprop.php

I found something that may be part of the answer in the panel.cfg of the 1900D.  In the last part it reads:

X=0
Y=0
SIZE_X=8191
SIZE_Y=2317

But, I'm not sure if changing THAT or changing something in the aircraft.cfg file would help.  My screen is set up for 1024 x 768.

I don't know if it helps, but I just did a comparison to a known working (FSX installed) Beech Barron 58, and in that panel.cfg that area reads:

X=0
Y=0
SIZE_X=8192
SIZE_Y=2500

Not knowing anything specific, I wanted to check first before I modified the panel cfgs for the add on planes to reflect the same size as the known working panel views.

I experimented with those x-y coordinate settings in the panel.cfg and it ditdn't work. So, I'm still at a loss as to what I need to change to get an addon panel to cover the entire screen.

I'd forgotten about this. I'll check it out but can't promise I'll fix it. I've never experienced the problem myself.

SIZE_X and SIZE_Y don't control the size of the panel. The Default View settings control the outside view, i.e. what you see outside of the cockpit. I'll have a look and see if i can find the right setting to tweak

I note that Wingco hasn't come back on this one. The aircraft is a repaint of Mike Stone's Beech 1900 which was originally intended for FS9. The panel works fine for me in the FSX Demo as do all other 3rd party 2D panels I've tried. I have no idea why you're having this problem. The best idea might be to find another panel for it.

Now, as far as I have looked I can't find anything about your problem, it seems to be unique. I'm going to try out a few things with you. Firstly I would like you to update your video drivers to the latest version. I doubt it is the drivers as the problem is only in add-on aircraft, but I would like to rule them out anyway.

Try out the aircraft again and see if it is fixed.

Another thing you can try is opening the fsx.cfg and look under the heading [panels]. There should be a line saying PANEL_STRETCHING=, set it to 1. What this does is make FSX stretch the 2d panel to the sides of the screen. I think this is the one most likely to work.

If not then next look into the Panel.cfg of the aircraft, it is of course in the Panel folder inside the specific aircraft folder. Back it up, now up the top there should be a heading [Window00]. Under it look for an entry saying size_mm= . Make sure the number following is 1024, if it isn't change it to 1024 and give it a go.

I looked over the FSX.CFG.  The panel stretching was already set where it should be.  When I changed the panel.cfg as suggested all it did was mess up the location of items on the panel, it did not effect the size of the panel.

My video drivers are fresh, but that did give me an idea.  I'm going to verify those settings again.

The only other thing I can think of to mention is that when the free flight begins, just after it loads the files to 100%, the screen flashes white for a second, to that slightly smaller size, with the scenery normal on the sides, then it loads the panel to that smaller size.  I don't know if that would help, but it's something I noticed as it started.

Hmmm... out of interest are your FSX and desktop resolutions the same? Also are both set to the native resolution of your monitor? The fact that the screen resizes during loading may suggest this. Have a look. Set both resolutions as high as they can go (this is usually the native size) and let me know how it goes.

My desktop and FSX are set to 1024x768.  The strange thing is, the FSX default aircraft are fine.  I have compared the main panel sizes for the default aircraft, and I've noticed that the panels as they exist in the folders are at roughly 1024 x 768.  The questionable aircraft seem to be at 1600 x 1200 in their folders.

Is the answer as simple as resizing those panel graphics?
