Posted: Wed Dec 19, 2007 9:44 amI don't usually post a reply to my original post; however, since the problem is resolved I thought I would share. Unfortunately, I don't know how to post a picture on this post, but if you're using fsx sp2 and you have an ati catalyst driver and you experience distorted/blurry/shaded/faded fonts in the pull down menus or atc control screen (window or full screen) the fix is to set your mipmaps within the catalyst control center to maximum quality. I spent a few days trying in vein to fix this problem so I'm relieved. Thank you Fabio! :)

Every time I've tried installing them it kills DirectX on my system making all games un-runable and if I try to reinstall DirectX it tell me it is already installed and will now close

Posted: Wed Dec 19, 2007 9:36 pmMaybe it's your windows version? I running xp mce sp2. I've been back and forth between both 7.10 and 7.11 as I'm not convinced that 7.11 is an improvement. More testing needed but at the moment I'm using 7.11.

When I first installed Acceleration I noticed that the ATC window was considerably dimmer than when I had SP1 installed. After a while the text would corrupt to be completely unreadable. After completely removing, thats a full uninstall and defrag and reinstall to SP1 only the problem was gone. At that time I had 7.10 driver on a HD2600 PRO.
SP2 was released the other day so I downloaded it again and installed it, same problem as before yet this time I had 7.11.
My conclusion is that SP2 is at fault.

I'm running FSX + SP2 on a brand new Q6600 machine using an ATI Radeon HD2400 Pro 256MB card and have no issues at all in either DX9 or DX10 modes... :-/
Of course, I've not done any tweaking whatsoever, so I've not managed to screw things up yet! ;D
