Acceleration carriers

How fast are the carriers moving during launch? I wanted to know if it was possible to get a  truly realistic F-4 phantom launch(wind over deck at 40 kts, cat at max power).

Also, do the carriers point into the wind during the missions?

IRL or in the game?

I know for a fact that real carriers can do over 50 Kts. The midway (a diesel) could do 45-50

Download Lamont Clark's "aicarriers2r2.zip" pack and you can place carriers wherever
you want them while in free flight.

You can then insure they are sailing into the wind.

I just got Acceleration yesterday, and I was wondering if the carriers have working catapult/cable ops with the acceleration F-18 while in free flight instead of the missions?

Yes.  There are some default FSX carriers located in various places and they "sail" to
some schedule, however I don't bother with those.

Instead I use the aicarriers2r2 package to place CVN fleets wherever I am flying
when I wish to do carrier ops.

I also used Lamont Clark's AI Boat Utility to create my own fleets with the FSX
carriers and escort ships sailing routes that I defined using Google Earth. They sail
just  like the defaults and use the very same models but you choose the times
and places. It's very easy to create custom battle groups with multiple CVN's,
cruisers and destroyers. Or any other of the FSX ships.

And you can fly carrier ops with these custom placed carriers without any other 3rd party programs?

Cool, I'll definately be downloading it.

I did load the F-18, and without flying it, spent nearly half an hour trying to figure out how to operate the controls, gauges, computers, ect. I still can't figure out how to operate stuff like the radios, autopilot, radar, computers, ect... :-[

I went through those forums, read a bunch of threads, and i'm starting to get the hang of the F-18 cockpit. I also went through the FSX Carrier tutorial mission, and downloaded aicarriers2r2.zip. That's an awsome program....! 8-)
