Install Question

FSX including FSX Steam version.

Install Question

Postby CAFedm » Thu Dec 13, 2007 9:27 pm

I feel pretty stupid for having to ask this, but am wondering how to determine which version of FSX (standard or deluxe) may be installed on a given drive. I purchased two copies of FSX (one of each type) and am certain deluxe was installed on XP, and standard on Vista, both on the same machine but of course on separate hard drives. Upon checking the version in the properties window for each, it shows exactly the same info, with no mention of deluxe anywhere. I am having difficulty getting the new airport editor programs to work, as well as the tools menu in FSX. It seems this might have something to do with FSX SDK not being properly installed, although it does appear in the list of installed programs in Control Panel (within Windows XP, where as stated above, FSX-deluxe was believed to have been installed). The sim runs fine, error-free, on both drives. I realize reinstalling is a consideration but it took awhile to get everything set up on each drive, so would like to see if there is anything else to check before taking such a drastic step.

The deluxe version will have more default aircraft.

C:\Program Files\Micorsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes

you will be missing several planes in the regular version

Also, the SDK only came with the deluxe version so where ever that is installed in the deluxe FSX installation

Thanks for the info, the SDK and additional aircraft are indeed there. Must be something else going on...
