Mesh Complexity and Mesh Resolution?

Thanks,

I think resolution is the amount of detail on the mesh and complexity is how "smooth" the mesh will be.

So the higher the number, the smoother mesh will be or visa versa?

Complexity is how defined the mesh is.. how deep gullies are, how well hills are defined, how much detail and CPU time goes into rendering the detail of the mesh.

Resolution is the scale of the installed mesh. The default mesh in FSX is 38m in 'resolution'. Setting that any higher on the slider nets you no change what-so-ever. 38 is the MAX for default FSX mesh.

Other mesh products such as FSGenesis USA are 10m so you set the slider to 10m

The meter 'rating' for the mesh means the mesh is accurate to approximately 38 meters (124.67 feet) for default or 10 meters (32.8 feet) for FSGenesis

FSX has the ability to render textures and mesh resolutions that would bring your computer to its knees. If you had the mesh and textures installed FSX was able to render in full detail it would take your sim close to 30-45min just to load a flight, probably more, and I doubt you would get more than a frame or 2 per second.

That type/detail of mesh and textures is coming in the next several years

Mesh is the first add on I add to my sim.
You need to start off with an accurate landscape.
High mountains, deep valleys and everything else in between.

Then I start to "add" everything on top of it  ;)
