nHancer/Nvidia drivers and FSX

Well after following Nicks Nvidia warning thread I got nHance installed and set up a new FSX profile with the proper settings. It worked fine with FSX SP1 but after installation of SP2 the Nvidia drivers/nhancer settings(such as AA and AF) no longer translate to game. To get the game to have AA and AF I need to set it on in game.

Is there some sort of workaround for this? Thanks

make sure you have thr most recent version of nhancer and the drivers

if this is DX10, there is a known nvidia bug involved.

Thanks Nick. I belive I am running the latests nvidia beta drivers but i will do a sweep and reinstall of both drivers and nhancer tomorrow and see where that gets me. I was running the DX10 Preview mode. I will turn that off and see how it works as well.

DX 10 has AA issues with FSX and Nvidia. There may be a workaround but I have not spent much time messing with Vista/FSX so I am not in tune with the issues/fixes. I just know there are problems in that area.

Your right the DX10 Preview is what caused the problems. I really didn't see much difference with DX10 anyway. maybe it is becasue I have no clue what FSX parts they included in the preview.. :P

Water/waves, cockpit shadows and other minor areas but those two are the main

I am sure that there are real benefits from the DX10 preview, but they are so minor as to be insignificant.  I will never learn.   I need not have bothered with Vista in order to get DX10, Acceleration/SP2 would have run just as well with XP and DX9.  Indeed I have turned off the preview as I was getting a small performance hit for no ueeful benefit.

But boy-oh-boy haven't there been all sorts of problems with Crysis.  The forums are full of it.  Another case of premature release.

I am strictly a flight simmer and don't buy or play other games (with the minor exception of Train simulation - although the life of the train driver must be pretty boring at times) so I haven't experienced Crysis and its crisis.  But the complaints are loud.

Nick:  after much (expensive) trial and error, it turned out to be a hardware problem.  The 8800GTX has been sent back to its supplier because of specific noisy operation at the time of the maximum distortion in the on-screen sound.

My computer shop has put a 7950 in temporarily and the game is running well.  Although at lower settings than the 8800.

It has been two frustrating weeks as the problem eluded us, because of an automatic assumption that it must be the software.

The game was installed and uninstalled countless problems so at least I can report that at least I have had no problems with installation and validation!

After Christmas I plan to upgrade to the new 45nm 9500 series.  I guess I am again at risk as an early adopter, but apart from the significant speed increase, 3gigs over four cores, it has a 12mb onboard cache.

However my tech suggests a RAID controller would help manage my dual hard disks that I presently run in RAID0.  I am uncertain whether it is necessary or whether I am being upsold.

Crysis could have been released a bit early but you see thats how it is with all game forums. They are all full of problems because for the most part no one wants to hang out on a official game forum if they don't have a problem. I had a great time with it the only bug I found is the guy had a chest reserve parachute system when he had a free fall rig on his back wich already includes a reserve. ;D

You need VISTA support too so the card I posted above may not work. It is not designed for VISTA but at the 3ware support area there is a VISTA x32 driver which states:

Official VISTA support for these for the 3ware 9000 series SATA only products will be included in a future code set.  No release date is available.

The Windows Vista driver from the 9.5 code set and newer has not passed fully tested with the 3ware 9000 series SATA only products, but it should work okay.

He needs to locate a proper RAID card that has VISTA support. If he intends to use the on-board motherboard RAID that comes with your motherboard, or, some cheapo 100 dollar RAID card that runs on a standard PCI slot, you will be sorry
