FSX installation

I just bought a FSX and tried to install it on my #2 HDD. It installed, but wouldn't run. I want to run the game from here as it would be dedicated to FSX. Any suggestions? It at first gave an error saying I couldnt install to the root of the drive. So, I made a new folder named FSX and installed in there. FYI, any help will be appreciated.

Be more specific

Was there an error message when you tried to run it?

Did it start and try to do any scenery indexing and then just crash?

More information

Did you install off the DVD and boot it right after or did you try to install SP1 or acceleration without starting it once when the original DVD completed the install?

Yes, you must install FSX to a folder if you intend to place it somewhere other than the default install location. I suggest you use the same folder name the software uses for default

Flight Simulator X

You should not have any problems installing FSX on any hard drive on your system I run both FSX and FS9 from drive H which is a SATA drive. I have two other IDE hard drives. Make sure your shortcut for FSX points to the correct place.
If you installed FSX using the default location and then copied it over to another hard drive this is not going to work as your registry thinks it is on drive C even if your short cut points to the correct place it will not work. You can change all of you registry entries but that can be dangerous and time consuming trying to find all of the entries it might make. One wrong entry in your registry can turn your computer into a expensive paper weight. 8-)

I have FSX in an "outside" disk with no problems. I did a copy of the whole FSX directory to it from C.

Mmm I did had in my secondary drive once, Trust me , I don't know why I did have small issues too, I fixed all but FSX was slower, then Nick (I think) told me to instal it where the O/S is ,and he was right ,after that FSX ran much better faster ,better FRPS , I don't know why but this is my testimony.. 8-)
