Another acceleration pack question

Postby brettt777 » Thu Nov 29, 2007 7:49 am

I am gonna get FSX for myself for Christmas and am considering the acceleration pack as well. As a big fan of air racing I am wondering how good the Reno and Red Bull air race mods are. How many aircraft are there and can you tweak the planes any?

I would personally reccomend the Acceleration pack very highly.  The racing aircraft include the Extra 300S (I will get to the modifications later) and the P-51 D Mustang.  The Extra is pretty much stock with a 300hp engine but in the Red Bull missions it has the addition of a Nitrous system to represent the race planes more realistically.  As far as the P-51 goes it doesn't resemble a stock P-51 much...  The wings are clipped, she is definately lighter than a stock P-51 and has a ton more horsepower.  The prop is also somthing like 8 or 9 feet long.  The P-51 also has an "Anti Detonation Injection" system to prevent engind damage at higher RPMs and Boost pressure.  The Reno course is very realistic and has some exelent race-day scenery such as trucks, stands, fans, other aircraft, and numerous other things.  I find it a very realistic representation of the real Reno air races.  As far as the Red Bull addons go, they are great as well.  There are single and multiplayer tracks that vary in difficulty from beginner (easy compared to the real track) and expert tracks that are identical to real tracks and also impose all of the penalties imposed on the real racers(too high, incorrect level, incorrect knife edge, are 3 second penalties and hitting a gate[they really deflate and re inflate a few seconds later] is a 10 second penalty.  The scenery with the Red bull races include the Red Bull tower and support buildings, hangars, and fans near the race track.

Acceleration also includes an AMAZING F-18 and a EH101 helicopter

Hope this helps

I agree with captmjk, it is a very good addition to FSX. It not only has more aircraft and more missions but has made the sim more flyable/enjoyable for a lot of us.

I had the same problem though all I had to do was run the repair on FSX and the expansion worked just fine.
