Just installed acceleration pack and tried new aircraft.
P51 Mustang - no cockpit view other than mini panel and full screen??
Virtual cockpit all gauges are blurred although gauge needles are sharp and move according to alt attitude etc etc
F18 cockpit view is just HUD virtual cockpit is very difficult to read any gauges.
Is this what is to be expected????
Any suggestions would be welcome but I cant race around the circuit a Reno not knowing what attitude altitude etc although Shift Z gives me a read out- but I dont think that this is very authentic !

The Acceleration planes have no 2D cockpits, only virtual cockpit, fully clickable !
In order to get a decent view, you have to use the zoom: BACKSPACE to select the zoom, and then + and - to zoom in and out. In your case, you need to zoom out of course. You can also select different view positions by pressing A.
Concerning the blurry gauges, I suppose this may be linked to the in-game display settings. Check your global texture resolution, push it to the max.

Back to the original post... That sounds like some symptoms my cousin lived through. For whatever reason.. a switch back to XP solved it. There seems to be a Vista/nVidia issue right now.
Now if you wanna talk about eggs.. I'm inclined to think Vista was laid ..lol

;D ;D ;D ;D ... Another happy and satisfied Acceleration customer ... Welcome to the fold ::) ::) I don't mean to laugh at you Chris, but no one wants to take the responsibility and the pride of having made this pile of sh!t. It's not aces fault (who ever the hell that is), it's not Microsoft's fault, Bill Gates didn't do it, Bill Gates' second-in-command didn't do it, this developer didn't do it, that developer didn't do it, none of the after-market companies did it. No one wants to own up to laying this golden $30 turd ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Suckers!

;D ;D ;D ;D
No idea what your talking about but a golden turd would be worth a lot more then $30... Besides FSX Acceleration is absolutely fantastic. You tell me where I can spend $30 and get 3 new highly detailed aircraft, a better performing program and a few dozen new missions, and I will happily buy it.
The blurry gauge problem is almost certainly your settings. Go to the aircraft section and check the Detailed Virtual Cockpit box (Don't remember the exact name) or boost the overall aircraft quality slider. The AC usually don't take many FPS away if you push up the quality, at least the default aircraft anyway.

Acceleration itself is fine... SP2 is what is causing older hardware and older textures from FS9-FS8 models to not work correctly, and, SP2 is also bringing out driver issues that were never seen before which are hardware manufactures responsibility to fix. Aces followed the DX9/10 API protocols. It

I guess I don't understand which software is which. There is much talk of Acceleration and SP2. Are they one and the same or are they actually seperate packages. Originally they were going to release Acceleration followed shortly after with SP2.
All I saw was Acceleration, no SP2.

For the moment, SP2 is "merged" into Acceleration.
Later this year, MS will release an independent, freeware SP2 for separate download

As Daube pointed out, SP2 is incorporated into Acceleration. Acceleration is models, traffic and missions. SP2 is shader updates, autogen fixes, aircraft model/cfg fixes and other runtime code upgrades.
Microsoft will be releasing the stand alone SP2 update to the public in a few weeks after they complete the SDKs, language translations and confirm the tree in the stand alone version is correctly formatted for systems that do not have Acceleration installed.

I purchased FSX Acceleration for the Sp2 included. Everything else was a bonus. Since installing Acceleration I have experienced a definate performance increase and now fly the sim on a daily basis. I am not a virtual cockpit user but have no problem waiting for a knowledgable person to come up with a 2d cockpit for the included aircraft. All in all; some of the best money I have ever spent.

Well did I stir up a Hornet's nest(no pun intended)?-not intentionally though- I just cast a query because whilst I was happy with the extra aircraft and always enjoy the missions, especially trying to land on ice and snow- b** near impossible to stop before ploughing into a snow drift. Anyway I digress-
Having been a software programmer in my distant past I agree, things need to be pukka before being marketed otherwise the clients get annoyed to say the least - so I did think that it was a step backwards not having the OPTION of a 2d panel as all other FSX aircraft and most freeware downloads.
Anyway thanks to those of you who suggested looking at the settings, that removed the blurred gauges, I am using XP still as I am reluctant to change to Vista as yet. If it works dont fix it!
I am using an X52 Saitek joystick and throttle which I can program for all those key entries for Zoom +/- etc and the extra commands that come with the acc pack for heli hoist and carrier ops, it really does help only having to use the keyboard very very rarely. The throttle is as far as I am concerned essential for fine control.
I am off now to add some extra carrier landing assist windows to the F18 if I can make them work as they do on the F14 Tomcat and sharpen up my carrier landing technique
To think that my burning ambition in my 20's was to join the Fleet Air Arm, I dont think I would be enjoying my retirement now if I had.
Nice to know that there are lots of keen FLSimmers out there always willing to offer assistance and a little bit of humour goes a long way in this very sad and troubled world.
Cheers to all of you.
Chris

Yes, Chrispotts, the buggy state that is the release candidate of WAY too many types of software, would have gotten programmers fired back when I keyed COBOL and C...

lol to me it figures that FSX Acceleration makes my FSX much more enjoyable while most others are having a rough time with it. Because of this, no one is on multiplayer!!! I miss having hundreds of rooms to choose from instead of 7. Hope everyone gets it worked out soon

Overall I think people need to settle down, someone mentioned Rigs being different. All of them are. Computers are like snowflakes, no 2 are alike. Even if you have the same hardware your software may be different causing different system files to be created that may or may not work well with others. You cant have 2 different computers and expect them to work the same.
M$ has a history of putting out software with bugs and unfortunately we've grown accustomed to it. We expect they will put out a patch they never will, we hope they learn from their mistakes and I highly doubt they learn anything except what game produced the most money. FSX is a great Base, there are so many features we haven't found a use for I can't wait for developers to tap into the power. Its going to take patience and work for FSX to really become a stable simming platform but I feel confidant that one day it will be like FS9, trustworthy and tweaked to our liking with an occasional stutter. Until then I think we need to relax and enjoy what we have.
Acceleration has some great attributes with some unfortunate flaws. I still believe the VC's are by far the best Ive seen from M$. The glass panels on the F18 are all customizable with quite a few options. If you spend some time actually looking around the VC and finding out what the switches do... I think you will find its quite complicated and in depth, sorry theres no 2D cockpit but I think the 3D is much more realistic. I never used the 3D until FSX came around.
Overall its a great system and unfortunately it was made for the future. Were obviously not there yet so be patient and see what happens.
