That's not the usual welcome we give new members to Simviation. If that's the best you can do then don't waste your time answering. The main purpose of this forum is to help & encourage people. ::)

Welcome to the forum lowflyer. The best answer I can give you is to try it. There's too many variables now to give specific advice. You might need to re-alias panel & sound to an FSX default aircraft. It will either be compatible with FSX or it won't.

I tried it in the FSX Demo & it works fine. That doesn't mean it will be fully compatible with your version of FSX on your computer.

In defence of Daube, I usually find him helpful and able to contribute.  Maybe just one of those days, we all get them from time to time no matter how hard we try, and profess otherwise.

Welcome lowflyer, you do need to look around a little as the answers are often already here.  However, their are so many new events affecting the object of your enquiry.....  Prior to SP2 it has indeed been possible to use FS9 aircraft in FSX.  Some of the later ones may still work, but because of the new setup a lot of the graphics are no longer compatible.  At the very least any glass often has to be put through a program to make it compatible, often losing the reflective qualities in the process.  Though to some extent this can be put back with some work.

Just to elaborate on my earlier reply. The version I tried is the FS2004 Stewart-Global Aircraft Airbus A300B4-200 posted here. --> http://www.simviation.com/fs2004jets26.htm

The Panel.cfg is aliased to the FS2004 default B777_300 which is not included with FSX. IIRC
You will need to edit it to use the panel of an FSX default aircraft for it to be listed on the selection menu. You could alias it to the FSX default Airbus instead. Likewise with the Sound.cfg which is aliased to the FS2004 b737_400. Change it to the Airbus or the b737_800.

This is an FS2004 aircraft so it will be listed without a thumbnail. That can be fixed later if it works & you wish to keep it..

I didn't check his number of entries, I should have welcomed him, that's right, my mistake

The best I can do, when I register to a new forum, is to read it first before asking questions.

Yes, Welcome to the forum lowflyer, and sorry for my initial -quite impolite- answer.
You have to know that your question has been asked hundreds of times already. A summary:
- A lot of recent FS9 planes will work
- A lot of gauges are no more compatible, so a lot of panels of FS9 planes will have missing gauges
- if you know how to edit a panel, then you can change the gauges to replace them by compatible ones, but this might be difficult on the planes like liners, because they usually have A LOT of gauges.
- more and more FS9 freeware planes are being updated and reuploaded in the FSX section with corrected effects, gauges, panels etc... Check the FSX download sections
- with the newest support package, nammed SP2, some textures format are no more supported, so a lot of planes and gauges are getting problems. This SP2 however is only included into the payware package called Acceleration. The SP2 will be release as an independent freeware download later this year. Until then, you'll have the SP1 to download and install on a fresh FSX.

Thank you all very much for the information, I will just have to tinker a bit I guess.  I am sorry if the question had been asked a million times, I tried to search for it but nothing came up.  And Mothball, Semper Fi to you as well, just got out last september.

Thanks again all for the responses and the warm welcome.
