I downloaded the vickers vanguard from classic british files. And It's been fine. however I ddecided to take up the british airways cargo paint tonight, to find the plane has become transparent. I can see it, and all the scenery behind it. the pilot seats etc.
Anyone had similar problem. my other models are fine. is it a problem with fdsds2 and fsx??

I have some issues like that with Accelleration/SP2.  If your running with that add-on, it might be doing it.  You lose some 3rd party compatibility with the Acceleration add-on.

nope, I'm not runnig acceleration, and it has worked before now, just when I loaded the pleane last night. I've not changed anything within fsx either. in fact last week I posted a screenshot tkaing off, in the flying jack version.
aftre work tonight I'll add a sceenshot of the issue

Many thanks for bringing up this question! Wanted to put it myself these days.

I had a similar problem already before installing the Acceleration Pack. Only with some planes but with similar "effects".

I got, e.g. for a Super Constellation from Swiss Airways VA (a virtual airline), the following "picture": There was no 3D panel  and from the cockpit I had the "pure" view like pressing the F10-button.

From outside (F11), as well from inside, I saw only some parts of the aircraft. The front nose and parts of the wings. Funny to see was the flashing light at the tail, but there was no matching aircraft texture to correspond with it :-))). Pushing F1 brought a perfect panel, but I would prefer to see it "in" the cockpit.

I think, I have not properly learnead how to install an Aircraft into FSX.

Would be very pleased, if somebody could give me an advise, what I made wrong with all the files and folders.

Thanks and happy flying!

There's so many possible variations that could affect this. I downloaded the Vanguard & Connie to check them out. They are both repaints of the original FS2004 models. The common denominator is the main fuselage textures of the repaints which are in a different texture format from the originals. If the other variations of the Vanguard display correctly you could try converting fuse1.bmp, fuse2.bmp & fuse3.bmp to an Extended BMP format like DXT3 with DXTBmp. This is only a suggestion & I have no way of testing it.

I wish someone would fix it.  ;)
As it stands now, there is no Connie that is acelleration compatable.  :'(

Hi Dave. I think the problem is that there are so many possible variables. Whether an FS9 aircraft displays properly in FSX will depend on your OS (WinXP/Vista) & the version of FSX you have installed (Out of the box or SP1).

Unfortunately I don't think it will be that simple. Some of the aircraft posted in the FSX sections of this & other freeware sites are existing FS9 aircraft quickly updated to work in FSX soon after it was first released. This has been the traditional way of doing things when a new version of MSFS was released & has worked quite well, up till now. It's quite possible that a large percentage of these aircraft will no longer be compatible with FSX depending on your OS & which updates you have installed.

It's quite possible that I could fix that C172 you're talking about by changing the texture format. This would only take a few minutes but unless I have a similar setup to yours (Vista + FSX Deluxe + SP1) it's impossiblle for me to test it. I think this is a problem that freeware developers will be faced with for a very long time.

Um, I might know this problem.

For example the E-6 and E-2 from Abacus, part of the Flight Deck 4 package, when you set it up for FSX, the E-6 and E-2 are very slightly transparent.  The textures and all are still there, and it looks normal, but you can see through it.

I've checked the textures, even swapped them with other aircraft textures, but the problem persists.  Probably an FS9 kind of issue, but I don't think it's fixable...

Hmmm... I have figured out that it is a most likely a texture problem. I described and showed some screenshots in a post below titled "Can your aircraft do this?" of the outcome of adding a FS9 texture to the FSX aircraft file. I also show modified aircraft files that seem to create the same effect on the aircraft. I've never messed with anything inside of the actual texture, I've only either moved or re-named a texture file. I'd be interested in learning how to change or modify a texture file. And, since we have kind of high-jacked this thread, maybe it would apply to the Vickers aircraft also. Semper Fi, Dave

Sorry. I can't find that post. You could experiment with different texture formats if you wish. It's not difficult. Download DXTBmp & have a go. http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htm

Open the main textures of the offending aircraft in DXTBmp & save them in a different Extended BMP format. I suggest trying DXT3 format on one texture to start with. I can't guarantee that this will fix the problem with a specific aircraft on your particular system. Even if it does this could change if you eventually update with SP2 or the Acceleration expansion pack.

It's possible the Connie prop disks could be fixed by swapping the transparent prop texture (blurred_prop.bmp) with one from a different 3rd party aircraft that does display properly. Change the file name to suit.

:oOOOppppsss I though This plane was made with gMax or Max ,not Flight Simulator design Studio..

You are right striker, Personaly the fact that it doesn't has a VC doesn't make me feel to encourage to try to fix this plane...+
these are the kind of plane to take shots ,to enjoy making and taking shots, and nothing more, FSX bring us a very realistic features enough to do both,To fly, to wach the VC enviroment,  and a very realistic Flight Dinamics

actualy there aren't well enough models to compare with the defaults models of FSX & FSX A..So that's what I mean ,To leave those models for FS9 only, and fly in 2d panel, until desighners get skills to develop such of realistic quality (like it happended when FS9 came out)..

Alex. The Connie in your shot was created with gMax. You are the very person to fix that little prop disk problem.

PS. I don't know of any rule that aircraft sold by Abacus have to be created with FSDS. The problem with these aircraft is more likely due to them being orignally intended for 2002.

Grab the blurred_prop.bmp file and drop it into the DTXBmp software ,replace the white alpha channel for a black 40 , 40, 40 and then export back to the texture folders ..all 3 of them ..Basck up first the originals :o

If you want I would like to link it to all you want ,But I don't know which site or how ,I mean like a fix to the propeler..Tell me How can I send you the modified file  :-/
