Odd Acceleration Problem...

Postby GetInTheVan » Tue Nov 20, 2007 10:38 pm

Hi, I've recently installed FSX Acceleration and was very excited for it. Well, when I went to open it up for the first time I got an error message that said I need to get a new graphics card because I didn't have the proper shader support. After some research I found out my card supports up to Shader 2.0 and FSX Acceleration only needs 1.1. Has anyone got a solution to this problem?? Thanks..

What kind of card, O/S?  You are sure you have the correct drivers installed?

I'm pretty sure that I've got all the current drivers too.

That's is a fake 'software' support (not hardware) shader on that onboard chip

I am afraid you wont be running Accelleration/SP2... uninstall Accelleration, or, upgrade the video adapter to a real card

Not really sure then. I thought that if the hardware wasn't correctly detected by the drivers, or if the drivers were not up to date or correctly installed, then MAYBE Acceleration might not think the hardware is there.

This may help you: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/i ... g/#anchor4

Under the heading "Known issues and solutions" there is a sub heading called "Common issues and solutions with the Intel

It's one of those Integrated things right? I had one of those on my old computer...Switching from that crap to a 6800GT back in 2005 made hell of a difference for me ;)

Even if you could 'trick' the system into running FSX by editing in a driver tag for the video adapter that told FSX it was compatible, FSX will not run/look right and you would end up uninstalling Accell/SP2 anyway. The hardware will not display the shaders correctly no matter what you do.

That onboard chip has no true DX9 support. Its DX7/8 hardware with a software shader solution to skimp it by on absolute min standards and allow OEMs to post BS about the support it offers. It would run FSX until Aces upgraded the shaders in SP2/Accell. Backwards compatibility no longer includes DX7/8

I had an Intel 92945G onboard video card. It worked ok for FSX but it definitely does not work with Acceleration. Like mentioned before, you need a "real" video card for Acceleration.
