IF you have ACceleration, you have SP2.

Thats sort of true unless you are waiting for a proper dx10 fix.

I think the question was:

When will the free SP2 for FSX be available for download?

So anyone got some news?

Before Xmas

If Phil Taylor saw any delay or reason to suspect it would not make it before Xmas as he has posted, he would announce it.

Before Xmas is anytime between now and the 25th of December and from what he has said it sounds to me like it is planned to be their finish job before they take the Xmas holiday off so the New Year starts an all new schedule with FSX entirely completed.

There will not be any changes in SP2 release from what is already in Acceleration's SP2... ::)

Yah, I've run into this a place or two elsewhere.  I think it's calling it "DX10" preview", in Accelleration, that's causing most of the confusion.
SP2 is just the fixes in acceleration, bundled with an installer.  Like n4gix says, there will be nothing different in SP2 that's not allready in acceleration.
The "preview" label is missleading.  DX10 work on FSX is done, they're moving on to FSXI, not long in the near future, and I'm guessing that "preview" is a reference to what's to come in future sims.

yes I agree. I think that FSXI will have full-blown DX10 support and the SP2 just has a few fixes (remember, he said that ACES couldn't get around to all of the fixes), which makes me hope FSXI will have DX9 support or else I'm not going to be getting it until I can save up for a new computer  :(

I wouldn't expect FSXI anytime soon - my * personal speculation* is that I would be surprised to see it before 3rd Quarter 2009, to give it a good solid two years of shelf life.

I think that the next product out of the door - for the enthusiast - is Train Sim 2 - and then, building on that and ESP, FS11, with the DX10 bells and whistles...

lol, I think I am the only person in the whole wide word that is excited about train sim.
I think that's being done by a different dev team. Last I heard, the two projects were completely independent of one another save one team member, and that trains wouldn't impede development of FSXI has such.  I believe I got this info from the MS Train sim site, but it was months ago, not 100% sure.  I just remember that someone from trains responded to a bunch of MSFS simmer complaints that they should abandon TS2 has it would supposedly delay FSXI release.
Coulda sworn that PTaylor blogged that FSXI work was going to start right after they get the SP2 download on line. Could be wrong though.
Either way, not expecting FSXI anytime soon. I was just commenting that work was pretty much done on FSX.

ATC won`t give me permission for my train to take off though, is that likely to be fixed in the first SP?   ;)  ::)
