Trouble Running FSX Acceleration!

Everybody

I recently loaded FSX Acceleration onto my system and whenever I try to use some of the options that can be accessed via the top toolbar my system locks up tighter than a drum and I have to shut the computer down completely and reboot.  This even happens when I want to exit FSX by using File\Exit.  However, when I use Cntrl_C FSX closes down just fine.  This is frustrating to say the least.

Here are the Specs for my system:

Intel D 3.4GHZ CPU Dual Core
3 GB of DDR RAM
200 GB Western Digital HD
GeForce 7300 FS Video Card with the latest software updates installed
Windows XP Professional with SP2
Total Paging File size is 3073 MB in size

When loading FSX Acceleration I rec'd no error messages and was able to successfully register it after it was loaded.  I have been running FSX, for about a year, under stock settings with out any problem whatsoever.  I really do not know where to start in correcting this problem and am wondering if anybody could help me.  Thanks in advance!!

I don't remember the exact origin of the mistake, but there are several users getting the same problem as you. It's linked to the NVidia video cards, certainly the drivers but I'm not too sure. What version are you using currently ?

Nvidia driver problem

Phil Taylor reported the issue to Nvidia and they are investigating along with a few other issues brought on by the harware/drivers in execution of new shader and other code in SP2/DX9/DX10.

Use the Beta 169.04 drivers

Gentlemen

I did download the beta version 169.04 and the problem still remains.  Are there any settings that I should have checked or unchecked as far as the video card goes?

The menu crash issue has only one fix right now... use Window mode instead of full screen for FSX

The suggestion of the betas was to help with other problems.

Nvidia is aware of the issue

NickN:  nvidia now has a 169.09 beta driver available.  I still haven't tested Acceleration yet, but if I get the menu problem I will uninstall it because with the Matrox TH2Go it would render the setup useless.

A small point, but never in driver release notes does nvidia ever refer to MS FSX, therefore it is not possible to know whether our problems have been fixed.

All we read about is the strategy and first-person shooter or driver games that dominate the games industry.

However I would have thought we were a sufficiently large proportion of the global games industry - and repeat buyers of video cards and hardware devices to warrant some more direct mention.
