Bill your right - you've been taught good. I was speaking of the gerund.

When you activated your sim online you sent a computer generated serial number to Microsoft. Now that your friend activated the same copy of FSX you now have two serial numbers for the same piece of software so Microsoft deactivated your old serial number. Also now that this has happened you have used up your two installations. To get a working install you will either need to call up Microsoft and give them an explanation they accept or believe or go out and buy another copy of FSX.

Why such a hassle? For this exact situation. Since people lend copies to others who didn't purchase their own copy Microsoft had to implement the security that is causing your problems and also causes the 1733 installation errors that seem to plague FSX. My advice is to consider it an expensive lesson and pick up another copy of FSX.

Get your disk back and use it just for yourself.  If any problems, ring MS and tell them you had config problems and tried it on a friends machine to test it.  Once you get it back, do not ever lend it out again......

Well i found out that boot camp didn't work on his mackbook and he didn't install it.

It must be those pesky pirates...YAAARR!

I didn't have the DVD in, was this reason? Or do I have to reinstall the bastard...

DVDs are at my friends house, he was trying to install it on his MacBook. What do I have to backup if I need a reinstall?

With what I've read on the internet, hacks for FSX just disable the trial checking completely, so that was by-passed easily.  I wonder if any game developer has ever developed a hack-proof game.  That'd be good...

Anyway, start up the game again, and see if you get an activation screen.  If you do, fill it out, then let it activate etc.  If it says the key is already in use, then call up MS.

Oh, btw, if your friend managed to install it on his Mac, and also managed to register it, then somehow he's got your registration code, and your computer's left in the dark.  Take back the FSX disc.

If nothing comes up, just call MS...
