Hello:
Enter your documents folder (MyDocuments) then enter your picture folder (MyPictures) then enter the Flight Simulator X Files-folder. This is where the screen pictures get saved when ever you press the assigned screen shot key.

As already stated the FSX default screenshot command is the V key. I'm not sure you can reassign it.* In WinXP the images will be automatically saved to your "C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR NAME\My Documents\My Pictures\Flight Simulator X Files" folder. If you have Vista this might be different.

The alternative is to use a 3rd party screengrab utility like FSScreen or MultiGrab. These usually work from the Print Scrn key.

*PS. FSX/Settings/Controls/Keyboard > Capture Screenshot

Hi Hagar and Ilka,

Respectfully, what about the "Print Screen" key. If nothing else, thats the key to use to print a photo and its an automatic windows feature. Do some keyboards not have a "print screen" key? I honestly don't know. And I didn't know about the "V" key either. I'll try it when I get through here. The print screen key will take a photo of anything on the screen.

A better way get shots of a flight is to get a copy of Paint Shop Pro. It has a "capture" feature that will take multiple shots of a plane in flight. When you finish the flight, you can select and save the best pictures and delete the rest. I guess what I am saying, is why even fool with print screen if you have Paint Shop Pro?

I wish the best photography for youall,     DB

Hi DB. FSX is the first version of MSFS to have an onboard multiple screencapture feature. (CFS3 also has this feature.) It's operated from the V key which I think is what ilka wanted to know. I've already mentioned the Print Scrn function which saves the image to the Windows clipboard. The problem with this is that you're limited to one shot at a time. That's where the 3rd party screengrab utilities come in. There are many alternatives, some of the most popular being FSScreen, GrabClipSave (GCS) & Martin Wright's MultiGrab which is my favourite. IrfanView also has a similar feature.

The above utilities are small Freeware programs developed specifically for the purpose. It's hardly worth spending out on expensive commercial software like PSP just for taking screenshots. I suspect that running PSP in the background would also use far more precious resources.

Hey Hagar and Ilka,    Ilka said he had FSX, so I took it for granted that he wanted to know how to take a shot in FSX. I'm familiar with the old versions of FS but Hagar, as you know, FSX is different in many ways. :)

Ilka, I might say that you can also find your photo in Wordpad. You take the photo with your "print screen" key and then open Wordpad, click on "edit", then "paste", and there is your photo.  :)

Neither Wordpad or Paintshop Pro have to be loaded while the photo is being taken. But if you are using PSP's multiple or single CAPTURE feature, it has to be minimised on your task bar while either single or multiple shots are being made. It automatically goes there when you key "capture" and then "start".

Ilka surely has Wordpad on his computer, a Windows program. :)

I tried the "V" key in FSX and it didn't work. :(

Hagar, I agree that it wouldn't be wise to purchase PSP for the single purpose of taking multiple screen shots, however I have had PSP for many years and couldn't do without the many things that can be done with it. I am somewhat a professional photographer and PSP is my one and only program for editing photos. I will always recommend PSP. :)

Have a good day,    DB     :) ;) :D 8-)
