Sorry Nick et al:  I do dumb really well.

The fsx.cfg that I open is the one that comes up in notepad.   It is written in normal text and I can't see how it would accept the entry in that form.  Does he mean the fsx.exe file?

Strangely with the matrox I found the wideaspect set to false actually presented better.  With it true there appeared to be  distortion at the edges of the outer screens (it runs 3times 1280 resolution).

However if I can understand where to find fsx.cfg in the correct format (so I can insert the %appdata%\Microsoft\FSX ..) I have no problem in making the wide aspect change to cfg.

Hi macca. I think you're getting confused. People have their own ways of doing things & this is one way of finding fsx.cfg from the Windows Start/Run command. Click OK to open the folder where fsx.cfg is located.

If you already found fsx.cfg open it in Notepad & change the WideViewAspect= value from False to True

Make sure you're editing the correct file - fsx.cfg & not fsx.cfg.txt which is a backup.

Thanks Hagar, I really do dumb well.
I thought this was a 2 step thing and the first part was in Sanskrit.
I have fsx.cfg bookmarked and this is a change I can make in a second.
What he gave me was just the search string I take it.  I use that handy app from Tweak FS, FSXcfg editor which takes me straight there.
