FSX acceleration

Does anyone else think it's a little "convenient" that Microsoft releases it's most resource intense version of flight simulator to date,
knowing full well there would be performance issues and complaints across the board, only to later release (for a price mind you) a cool performance enhancing add-on, that in all honesty, should have (and probably could have) been built into the sim in the first place? Seems a little underhanded and greedy if you ask me.

But, in that case, FSX would have been released last week.  I, for one, have been glad to have FSX for the last year, so no complaints from me. ;)

Or maybe they did just finish it... http://blogs.msdn.com/ptaylor/default.aspx . ;)

They've had a year to tweak FSX as well as rewrite the program for a totally new version of DirectX, not to mention add three excellent aircraft, so they probably have been quite busy.  I believe Phil said they have started looking at FS11, so you would probably be hard pressed to find anyone who has any idea about FS12 (except that it's the 12th one).  I don't think the ACES team had Acceleration ready last October and since then they've just been twiddling their thumbs (or working on the next FS).  It takes a lot of work to research, design, develop, test, fix, retest, and produce a program as complex as FS, then finalize, manufacture, and distribute thousands, or tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of copies of it across the world.

Not to mention Microsoft is a business, and they're out to make money, which is how it works in America, so everyone is going to have to get used to it sometime.

I think someone needs their marmalade shots  ;)

I just got Acceleration (thanks to a $50 best buy card I won lol) and I must say they did one HELL of a job on the aircraft and missions. The stuff M$ is putting out now rivals the other payware that was/is available for both FS9 and FSX. And quite honesty to get 3 new aircraft, 6 new system abilities, 30 new missions, a "pre" release of SP2, and a few more HIGHLY detailed airports (KEDW is freaking amazing now I can't even tell you without screenshots) I am MORE then happy to pay the $30. Look at Capitan sim. Who, by the way, I feel has some of the best payware out there, charges $30 for the BASE model of the aircraft, not to mention additional expansions . To get 3 aircraft from him would be in excess in $100 plus no missions.  Yes M$ is greedy, but thats how businesses work. If people are willing to pay, why not charge. Also I doubt that they had this ready back with FSX, otherwise the would have included it and charged more for FSX to begin with. Not to mention the performance problems they would've had considering they would have had no user input.

Personanally, I would just shut up if I were in your position, I'm sorry you have to wait a week or two to get SP2 but quite honestly Acceleration is WELL worth the buy anyway.

Why do people jump to conclusions when they don't know what they're talking about?

I'll have it explained for the 10th time, because SP2 is seperate from Acceleration, so they need to redo all the tweaks again on non - Accelerate Fsx which may take some time.

Get a life, Greyhound!!!  The stuff on Acceleration wasn`t out until nearly a year later, the contents are well worth the small price.  SP2 is included free, and its available to others as a seperate download later.  If you don`t like it then don`t buy it, simple.  But, let us get on with enjoying it in peace.  I`ve hardly seen any of your posts previously in FSX, especially of late.  Just come in for a knocking session have we?  Sounds like it......

I HAVE AN MSI K9MMV MOTHERBOARD THAT RUNS  SATA. I HAVE AN AMD AM2 X2 3800+ CPU DUAL CORE PROCESSOR. I ALSO HAVE A SEAGATE SATA2 160 GIG HARD DRIVE. I ALSO HAVE A 512 DD2 -800 PC 2- 6400 MEMORY. I DO KNOW I NEED MORE RAM. MY VIDEO CARD IS AN ATI RADEON 9550 256. I RUN WINDOWS VISTA BASIC HOME 32 BIT. YOU WOULD THINK I COULD POSSIBLY GET SOME GOOD RESULTS FROM PLAYING FLIGHT X. HOGWASH. MY FLIGHT SIM 2004 PLAYS FANTASTIC. I OFTEN PLAY MY 2004 A WHOLE LOT MORE BECAUSE THE GRAPHICS ARE GREAT. I HAVE TRIED ADJUSTING THE GRAPHICS TILL I BLUE IN FACE. IF I PLAY IT WITH EVERYTHING AT DEFAULT IT PLAYS OK. EVEN GOING UP WITH ONE OR TWO ADJUSTMENTS IT IMPROVES A LITTLE. NOT TO MY LIKING HOWEVER. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS? OTHER THAN A LITTLE MORE RAM I AM STUMPED.

ALMOST GROUNDED IN FLIGHT X :-?
