Howard 500 Textures

Hello. I just installed the Howard 500 into FSX (supposed to be for FS9) but I figured it might have worked and it mostly did, except for the propeller textures. The problem is that they show up behind the clouds or autogen, but in front of the plane. It's hard to explain, but here are pictures of it. I've had this problem with a couple of other add on planes and it is annoying me. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Does anyone have any idea what this problem is? I've even reinstalled FSX (not due to this though). I think I've had this problem with other planes ever since I got Flight Environment X. Perhaps that has something to do with this?

You just need to substitute the prop texture file with one that "works" in FSX (SP2 ).

Try using the default FSX DC-3 prop texture. Just copy it into the 500's  texture folder
and rename the original first (spinprop.bmp to spinprop.bak ) then rename the copied texture
to the same name as the original (spinprop.dds )

( off to test this now )

OK...this works but there may be better prop textures to use. Search around and try
different ones until youi get one you  like.

My Howard 500 does that also as does a Corsair that I have installed.

It is due to the graphics format of the prop file.
Replacing it with a prop of a different aircraft is one solution, however if you like to keep the original prop you may try to change the file format with a program like convimx.exe. You may try to convert it to DXT1, DXT3 DXT5, etc.

Thanks. I'll try that both of these when I have time hopefully later tonight.

What is the difference between DXT1,2,3?
