Hi!
I am going to switch directly from FS2000 to FSX but i think that there i feel a problem to control aircraft. I am used to fly by mouse but I think FSX comes with keyboard and control column(Joy stick).
What do u thing abt the flying with joy stick and which joy stick u suggest the best as well as cheeper.
Here in Pakistan , Prices range from (800 PKR  to 8000 PKR) or (13 US$ to 140 US$).
One thing more,, do the following specs are suufficient fo FSX with maximum graphics.

     P IV   2.0 Ghz
     80 GB hard
     1 GB of RAM
256 MB Nvidia Graphic Card (AGP)
     Windows XP SP2
hmmmm may be Creative sound card with gameport.
     Combo Drive.

That's a big jump, I recomend you to find a standard Joystick its more realistic (Some Real Aircraft Uses joysticks as all the airbus )Wow! Pakistan! Welcome a board  :)

Your specs: They are good to run FSX but I think the procesor its a litle bit  low ,of course Im not too sure, More opinions will come, and we would like to know what Model of graphic video card are you using?

...an excellent Specification to run FS 2004 flat out... ;)...!

...just add another 1GB of Memory to your Mother Board... :)...!

...and you REALLY will need a twist-type of joystick to enjoy Flight Simming!...;)...!

F...G-BPLF... 8-)...!

...your AGP graphics Card will be OK...;)...!

P.S. I hate the thought of someone leaping straight from FS 2000 to FSX.....and being disappointed with the results!

Welcome. I don't recommend jumping to FSX with those settings, but to FS2004, I would definately do it. FS9 has many more addons than FSX, so if you spend enough time looking and installing them, you can make it look extremely nice. And with those specs of yours, you'll be very glad with the results you get.

Going from fs200 to FSX is like going from a skate board to a Mazaradi But if you are up to the challenge go for it. As for a joy stick You really do not need anything fancy although I would suggest you get one that has 3 axis so you can use one as a rudder The third axis is usually a twisting motion of the stick from side to side. My self I use a simple Satik it only has two axis but then I have rudder peddles. 8-)
