Maybe this would sound silly ,I been thinking why didn't MS think to place the Hole FSX in a single DVD?
I have measure original DVDs up to 16gb (Titanic) for example ,If they would made a 16, 17Gb DVD NoOne on earth would be capable to make Piracy copys ,with all this encripted codes ,there arent dvd for record more than 4.7 gb, and no one would download a 16gb files on internet.
that would make things easier for us ,when we need to format our Hdds and make that phone call to validate , I still got 1 chance (3 times max I heard) :-/

Just a though

You can get more activation codes if you want I think. Even then, I think I've installed FSX four times now, and haven't had a problem. And the last time was on my new computer.

The trouble with any security system is the old Cops 'n Robbers. The pirates always have the lead and can quickly counter anything the software engineers come up with.
There is no truly perfect system. There are things like online checks each time a piece of software fires up but these slow down things for the user and anyone without internet can't use the software etc etc.
The battle continues

I have been able to confirm that changes where made to activation here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=enHowever, it does not state the changes on that page that I can see.
I did find an FAQ that makes reference to unlimited removal and reinstalling on one computer, but it is unclear what effect formating the boot drive has.
FAQ here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/927007I'll keep digging in a little bit, but I am a bit busy at the moment and need to drop it while I finnish what I'm doing. Hope this at least partially awnsers your question Alrot. :)

Ha! I've installed/uninstalled/reinstalled FSX (literally) about 20 times so far. At first, I had read that you only had three shots at loading FSX when it first came out, but I surpassed that by far in the first 2 months. Best Buy (a national computer store chain in the U.S.) hated my guts the month after I bought a new computer along with FSX from them last year. FSX helped me crash four of their computers, averaged about one a week for that month. This is before I learned that there was such a thing as a "gaming computer", so I kept returning the computers and they'd give me a new one with the assurance that " 'this one' is the baddest azz pc on the market". They finally understood that I didn't need just any ole, supposedly, badazz pc straight off the shelf. Anyway, we finally got the pc problem sorted out ... then Vista came out a few months later, and there came the questions of XP or Vista and all of it's initial problems along with another steady volley of uninstall/reinstalls. Now, it seems that a lot of the initial bugs have been worked out and I have been "flying" FSX in Vista exclusively for about 6 weeks now. I guess it's just like anything new, there are a myriad of issues to be worked out. Three shots (???) Hell, Microsoft didn't even it get right in three shots... Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it

HEHE, Never listen to best buy. I don't know what the Fastest comercial sold Game machine is currently, but I do know that you won't find it at Best Buy, no matter what they tell you. I don't think they have ever sold any of the top game machines for that matter. They'll tell you anything to make a sale.
I know some years back, many people were telling me to get an "Alienware" machine, and the guy at best buy kept assurring me "oh, this one will top one of those any day." Glad I didn't listen to him, cause when I finnally met someone who had Alienware, it was clear in about 30 seconds, Best Buy didn't have anything close at the time.
Buyer beware....

Sorry Alrot. Been pouring over old blogs, and FAQ pages, and I am just not finding out about activation after format.
I do know that I have done at least one format myself and re-installed with no issues, but I can't honestly say if I have done it more than once since FSX sp1, so I simply can't say one way or another if it'll let you.
I am sure someone here knows the awnser. Mabey if you posted the question in it's own thread, you'd get a better awnser.
In the mean time, i'll look again tommorow, but my hopes are not high on finding what I read after sp1 was released.
Hmmmm, wonder if you searched the board, what might come up. I seem to remember alot of disscusion on the topic some time ago...
Any way, sorry I couldn't tell you for sure in quick fashion, but I havn't given up yet.
Later.....
