"Visual model could not be displayed"

Postby DeeBee » Mon Sep 17, 2007 8:15 pm

I need someone's help. In FSX, I have successfully downloaded many FS9 planes. Most fly very well, some I had to find another panel for. But, ever so often I download one that everything looks OK, model, panel, sound and texture and the plane shows up in the selection screen. I click on it, it goes to the screen that you can look at it, but instead, I get this message: "Visual model could not be displayed". If I click on "Fly Now" and it loads, I only get some lights and engine sound. It even flys, like a ghost!

I have approximately 20 of these non-displayed planes, some nice ones that I grew up building models of, and I would like to be able to fly them.

Can someone help?        Thanks :)

Which airplanes are you having trouble with and where can I download them. That would help a lot. Otherwise they might be airplanes designed for FS2002 or earlier sims and are not compatible with FSX. When FS2004 came out there were a number of models that had display problems because of this like props, flap animation and landing gear not showing. I doubt they would work at all in FSX.

Thank you Matt for answering my post,

Here are some of the planes that won't show:

Download Name           Zip File                              Location             Page#
_____________         ____________________       ___________     _________
Yak                           FS2004YakovlevYac.zip        2004 Vintage         76
Mirage                       Dagger_A.zip                      2004 Military          16
Betty                         G4M2up2.zip                       2004 Vintage          64

I have since looked for and found more of these specific planes but not near all of the
ones that won't show. If you can figure it out, I will be forever grateful. If you can't, I
will be forever grateful just the same.  :)

Thanks again,      DD

Those are planes which are made with an old modelling tool which is not supported by FSX anymore.
I'm very sad about that because the default planes from CFS2, that I LOVED SO MUCH flying in FS9, cannot be displayed in FSX as well  :'(

Hi Daube,

I appreciate so much you guy's help. To know that these planes or old and out of date is worth the effort expended. I now can go ahead without thinking that the problem is ME!

By the way, I'm slowly finding these planes in other locations. For instance I have found two versions of the Mirage, a single engine with a parashute and a twin engine both with fire in thier exhausts, etc.
So see, the "no show problem" has caused only good things to happen.

Thank you, thank you again,        DB
