Intermiten Black Spaces

I have had this malfunction ever since I have started using FSX. I'm flying along just fine (usually the C172), then I decide that I want to check, for instance, my Garmin (it could be any icon or just changing views), so I click on GPS icon on the (2 D) panel, the GPS screen comes up just fine, and now I have a perfect looking panel and a perfect looking GPS screen. Now here's where the problem is, my outside view is totally blacked out. I can use the hat to look out to the sides and back just fine, but my front view is gone. I have found that if I cycle through the different views several times my front view comes back eventually, but then, when I look to my right and left (in any screen or view) I have some fairly big black squares where my lights should be flashing. This can happen anywhere between 5 - 20 minutes into the flight and usually when I am beginning a decent for a TNG/landing. Anybody else having this malfuction? Anybody know how to clear it? Thanx in advance. Semper Fi, Dave

Cheers! Just my initial thoughts here. If you've had the problem continuously with all aircraft since the first time you used FSX, it sounds like a graphic card issue in that your card isn't rendering or isn't able to render the graphics properly. You may want to put a post in the "hardware forum" to see what other responses you get there. I use a 256mb DX9 Nvidia card with latest drivers installed and I only get some "white-screen-flicker" in front cockpit view every now and then, but not very often. My personal suggestions here would be:

1) Make sure your graphic card drivers are updated and current.

2) Run your systems Direct X diagnostics and make sure all is well with your Direct X.

3) Try cutting the graphic settings in FSX down a bit...maybe try low and medium settings to see what happens.

Sure hope you get some more replies here and in the "hardware forum"!

Regards,
Nigel

Roger Wilco. When I first read your post, I thought, No way, but on second thought, I think your right on the money. I bought my pc a week before FSX was released about a year ago or so. I didn't know about "gaming computers" at that time, but I was told my pc was top the line at the time. I will recheck my pc's spec sheet, make sure everything is updated and repost in the hardware section, as advised. Thanx Much, Semper Fi, Dave
