FSX makes my computer restart!

Can anyone tell me why, when I fly the Midwest fly-in mission and try to drop a flour bomb on the target, does my computer feel the need to reset itself? It doesn't even come up with a 'This computer recovered from a serious error' box, it just carries on like nothing has happened. I recently had to restore my computer to its factory settings, so could it be an installation issue with FSX? How can I make it stop, as it is ruining an otherwise great game. I have not had any problems with other games I have, just this game and mission.
Cheers for any help.
Spacedman.

I think that would be a CRASH! you have to check the CPU temperature using this

Cheers for the speedfan program. Just before I drop a bomb the CPU temp is 46c, ambient is 43c, remote (what ever that is) is 56c and HDO(?) is 35c.
My system specs are: BFG Nvidia Geforce 7950 GT OC
Pentium D CPU 2.80 Ghz
2 GB ram
200 GB HDD

I have not tried the mission with another plane, only the default yellow biplane (sorry, cant remember its name off the top of my head). I will try it with another aircraft and will report back soon.

Just got back, you can only carry flour bombs in the yellow biplane, which I now know is a Piper cub. sStill no luck in finding the cause of the fault. I wonder if I should try re-installing FSX?

No there's no reason to try another plane,If you are using the assing one (any default model) this shouln't be happening....did you overclock your CPU? maybe an overclocking also make your computer crash ..
we are talking of FSX missions ,Right? spacedman we have a conflict here, and seems not so easy find out

Does this happen in other missions or during free flight?

This only happens on that particular mission with that plane.

what about the power Supply , You ned at least 400 watts , if you have it ,Try By asking a friend who has one to lend it to you and run a test,
See, this could be the issue !! The CPU unit believe or not literaly eats all the power consumption more that all your extra and normal Hardware TOGETHER, It need to process millons of datas per seconds ,and It needs to warm enough ,to alow the electrons [edit]you know the heat depends of the electrons speed around the orbit of the atom's core.Something Cold electrons will be slow, something hot electrons will move faster[/edit]
and so this devices need to be hot, in every collector from couple thousands transistors and semiconductor inside the CPU..
Power sources can lost power by a link in one or many the rectifier bridges ,this really happends ,someones suggest to replace according of how much you use of this units in your pc ,in other word they could EXPIRED according with some reading material I'm reading in a magazine in my hand...I would scaned ,but is in spanish
sorry about to many technical here ,But I think this problably could be the reason of many complaints ,Not only you spaceman many has this issue in rare occation my computer restart by it self when IM in FSX or decompile something pretty heavy ,Maybe My PSU is not longer good enough (made in China)..

I have previously upgraded my PSU to 400W, as when I first installed the new graphics card, my computer would keep turning off. After the upgrade, everything was A-OK until I recently reset my computer and re-installed everything. Also, I have just bought and been playing FS2004, and everything is fine, with no restarts. THIS IS STARTING TO GET RIGHT ON MY T*TS!
Sorry to moan, but, you know how it is.....

If it only happens with the one airplane during the one mission then something is likely wrong with one of the files used in the mission. I just recently upgraded to FSX Delux and I'm still looking over the mission builder so I can't say which files are the likely culprits but since the error is limited then I'd assume that the cause is limited also. Have you tried the "repair" function on the install disks? Put your FSX disk in the DVD drive and when it runs choose "Repair" from the installation menu. Maybe a file is corrupted.

Good news everybody!

I tried the repair option on the disk (not even previously knowing that it was there) and it seems to have done the trick. I flew the mission again after the repair and my computer reset, but after that it seems to be fine and i can drop bombs without the whole thing going pear shaped.
Many thanks to all of you who offered support and advice, it is much appreciated.
I will try not to bother you with computer problems in the future, as this means I do not have any.
Happy simming.
Brendan.

,But if you insert your disc 1 there is a repair option
was one of my advises

Glad you could fix the issue spacedman, See everybuddy with this thread we all learn diferent issues and how to deal with them ,we learn more so we can help to others with this ,So in this case I got to thank you instead....
