Just a quick question, when i create a ifr flightplan using the flightplanner in fsx then use gps for navigation, the atc does not match the flightplan entered. This means that when my autopilot is controlling the plane using the gps plan, i keep getting told to turn into a different direction. is this normal. i thought that if i was using a flight plan that fsx devised that the atc would then use that and follow it.

Any help is welcomed..

ATC uses that flightplan except during approach. When you are getting close to your destination, the atc will tell you to turn to begin the approach. After that they will guide you until your plane is in place for a visual landing or has intercepted the IFR localizer.

Their are two main flight types, IFR where the ATC will tell you which headings and heights to use.  VFR where you follow the route generated by the sat/nav, though it should just be a visual route really.  During certain weather types you may not be able to take off and/or land using VFR, only IFR.  Best to get used to both types at some point.

VFR = Visual Flight Rules
IFR = Instrument Flight Rules, hence you get headings to follow.
