Are there any out there that won't impact my FPS but will enhance the realism of trees or/and environment textures (like sky and ground textures)?  Thanks.

Tree-X does an OK job but nothing spectacular

The major players in texture/landclass/mesh replacements worth the install are still in production. The best upgrade for the USA on the market right now is Ultimate Terrain X with FSGenesis 10m mesh, and, for landclass that works with UTX and the entire world, XClass by Cloud 9

Flight Environment X is due out soon which will provide a weather engine in a later update and Ground Environment X is about another month away

Those are the must-have add-ons for what you are asking about

Active Sky X for clouds and weather is already out but I am waiting for FEX because it will not be compatible with ASX. Once I see what each do/don

Nicks LightFix for FSX is going to be posted in the next 2 weeks. I finalized upgrading the textures so they were FSX certified and currently working out a few minor timing bugs the FSX light system seems to place on them.

Are you also the one who did NicksAIjetexhaust, NicksPropDust, and Nicks_Lightfix_V2 for FS9?

If so, I like 8-)

It's the effect that counts and I thank you.

Haven't seen the jet exhaust work. As I understand it, you have to have your lights on to see it.

no, if it is installed correctly a hidden gauge does it based on your throttle position and/or if you are in taxi. heat shimmer in taxi and thrust under power

if you add it to all the AI you dont need a panel, just add it to their config file and when they taxi or takeoff/fly, you see the FX. They go away during AI landing to simulate the engine spooling down

It uses aircraft lights to make the switches work but it does not require you turn the lights on

Oh! :-[

I'll look into that. Thanks.

Edit: Sorry, Nick! I have another download called HtShimExhst that requires that you turn on your lights to see the exhaust.

You will get airport lights that should give you a small simulated bloom without having to use the bloom system and a complete replacement set for all aircraft that use the default lights. It will also incorporate async lights so the planes all look like their lights are running different speeds and not all flashing at the same time. Also included is better ground tower and marker lights along with a much nicer and more realistic xeon landing/taxi light.

Hello Nick:
I have a few statements and questions for you.
First, I have used your night environment version for FS9. And what I particularly like about that addon is the appearance of plenty of street lights. So my first question is, will you have the street light fix included into your package for FSX?

Second, I have purchased the Ultimate X for FSX. And that package does contain street lights, however there just does not seem to be enough of them.

Third, I do not like all of the yellow glow on the ground textures at night.

My light fix did absolutely nothing to street lights unless you used some type of add-on that called for the lower left quadrant of FX_2.bmp in which my FX edit was in that updated file. If UT or some other add on called that section of FX_2.bmp and you had my lightfix installed, that is why the streetlights may have use my light FX edit.

Sorry, I have got your addon:http://www.simviation.com/fs2004misc18.htm
mixed up with these following addons by--
Maurice Roenick: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery60.htm
                                         AND
Chris Arrington:http://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery10.htm
I really enjoy Chris Arrington's addon in that he had somehow confined those yellow glow texture patches into smaller dots that have a street light appearance when flying at high altitudes in fs9.  But as far as I know thoses fs9 addon textures may have different file names than the textures in FSX.  Or they just might not be compatible with FSX.  And if that is so, then that would mean that I just can't place them into the FSX's teture folder.  But then again I may be wrong in that I do not have any memory in trying to do so.  Anyways, I will try soon and also will try to do some modifications myself.
