Anyone else have this issue? Each time I go into the 2D panel, I only get like 4-7 FPS versus 14 and up when in the DVC or anywhere else. Anyway to fix this?

Known issue
In FSX 2D panels are frame killers, unlike FS9 stay in the VC and get better performance.
also, if this is a nvidia card, try uncheking the cockpit tooltips in the AIRCRAFT tab settings in FSX and see if that does not help
Make sure you have the latest DX9 update unstalled

FSX is better in the VC
For some reason some of the 2D panels are simply frame killers, why I dont know... PTaylor would be better able to answer that question.

if you are crapping out in the VC I would say its because the video card cant handle the load. I would bet its not a very good adapter and does not run higher function shader calls very well which is why the VC is a killer and 2D isnt.
People who run the better video cards, but not the best ones, may see 2D issues and not VC becuase their cards are influenced by the 2D issues but have the shader ability/optimizers working in VC..
There is also the DRIVER factor too. Make sure you have the most up to date drivers for your video cards. Both Nvidia and ATI have included quite a few fixes in their last driver releases.
I dont have any problems in either cockpit and I use the latest drivers. and I use top shelf cards
