Why is multiplayer missing?

Exactly the same thing has happened to me

Did you previously have the demo version of FSX installed?

Also, did you activate your copy of FSX when you installed it?  (activate = validate it with the S/N provided)

I can't speak for Stubbedtoe16, but I've not had the demo installed on this PC, and FSX was registered about 8 months ago.

The only thing that is different in the last few days, is that i have been using Tile Proxy which changes the FSX config file, i have tried and old version of my config and the same thing happens.

Strange that two people have had the same thing happen at the same time????

I wonder if anyone else has had this happen?

Well, you have to activate FSX using the key provided on the DVD case. If it's not activated that will keep happening. And remember, you can only activate FSX 3 times (in different hardware configurations). After that you'll have to call microsoft for them to let you activate again.

Like i said Hugo, I activated FSX about 8 months ago, It was my third installation of FSX (Old PC, New PC, New PC Going to Raid0, and a very nice Indian bloke happily assisted me with this.

You can re activate FSX as many times as you like as long as the nice Indian bloke is happy that you are legitimate.

May be an answer to Stubbedtoe16 and now my question, but not a reason for the problem.

I am interested if any one else is having the same problem.

You could try re-activating the install, maby something little got damaged that made the checking program go nuts on you and wants you to active it again.

For me, i did have the demo installed, but unistalled it awhile ago.  FSX Deluxe has been working for me until yesterday, when all of this started to happen.  I dunno why.  How to I activate it?  And when I tried to reinstall, I showed you what happens, it says there is a critical error and the installation cannot complete.  And it may also hbe worth mentioning that it my joystick settings won't save (they reset to default every time I start FSX up again).

Do this:

set your PC to unhide hidden files

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\Your name or the computer name\Program data\Microsoft\..AND Place the entire folder FSX in other place like the desktop

restart the game ,and let the sistem built another FSX.cfg folder ..

Did you place an electric fan near the Hard drive? when you uninstaled the DEMO did you make sure to delete the folder in C:program files/Microsoft games/>>> FSX?

Did you tried Restore?

I'll try all that and get back to you later, thanks.  I did not have a fan by the computer and did fully uninstall and delete the demo.

You know ,sometimes people try to place stronger fans(FSX make the CPU works harder than anything else) and some of them generates strong magnetic field as result you lost the ini sections of the HDD or sometimes you lost files ( I place once a powerful microwave's oven fan, I blows like a tornado ,as It blew all my informations in my both drives (including partitions) LOL) ...

This has happened to me twice now. Somehow FSX looses some of it's registry entries and starts acting like a demo or unactivated product. When trying to reinstall you will sometimes get an "Error 1722" and the reinstall will fail.

Go to Microsoft and download the Software Licensing System Reset Tool and run it then reinstall FSX.

When you first install FSX, the installer will ask you to activate your copy with the product number provided with the game (on the inside of the DVD case).  It is possible to not activate your copy of FSX and exit from the installer, but as I have not tried this myself (why would you want to?), I could not tell you what would happen.  I am gathering that without activation, the program will then behave like the demo version, which is basically most of the FSX program minus a product number (and some other bells and whistles).

Barring this, I think MattNW has a great suggestion: contact Microsoft.
