HI, just wondering how can i start the passenger aircraft from scratch. Ok, you know when you shutdown the engine manually buy cutiing off the fuel right? instead of ctrl+shift+F1. (i don't know if that actual procedure to shutdown the engine) if im wrong, tell me how? Ok, once you shut it down, all the screen blank and the altitude ball indicator is dead too. leave it for 10 or 15mins? When i trying to start engine manually by clicking on the 1st engine but before that i make sure all the genrator is up and running, and the Battery is on. once i click on the engine button. it won't do anything. not even ctrl+e. its totally dead. so tell me how come it won't let me. did i forget something?

The default airplanes don't model enough of the systems to make a realistic start up or shut down procedure worthwhile. If you want to be realistic then pick up one of the payware add on airliners. Just be prepared to study a little or you'll be sitting at the gate for a long time.  ;D

The ATR from Flight 1 comes with a 900+ page manual. Not sure if it's been updated yet for FSX. Doesn't matter to me since my machine can barely handle the default aircraft without melting the processor.

Without falling immediately into the payware options, you will get a lot of valuable choices in the freeware section ;)

In you case however, what happened is quite simple: your battery is dead :)
You have switched OFF your engines by cutting off the fuel, this is OK, but then, sine the generator is not providing any power anymore, only the battery is providing power to the panel and lights.

So before you switch OFF your engines, first make sure you turn OFF the battery and the generators.

To play with the virtual cockpit and the checklist, if you are interested in nicely detailled aircrafts, I recommend you:
- the howard 500
- the Beech D18
- the Tupolev Tu-154 (this one is Payware quality, and in Russian, you WILL NOT be able to start it without the checklist and the manual on your knees :) )
- and some more I forgot ;)

so surprise FLight Simulator supposed to be a "Simulation" stuff. but is that what you said "default" planes have to rely on ctrl+e. what do you guys say? should FSX call that game Simulation?

It took me nearly 30 minutes to figure out how to power to all the instruments! And much longer to finally get all the engines running! Its rewarding though once you've done it! You feel as if you have completed a difficult task, that no other in the world can do!  ;D

Default planes can all be started fully manually, excepted the liners maybe... maybe not. I fly only from VC, I use the default planes a lot, and I never use the CRTL+E keys to start.
FS simulates a lot of stuff, and is build in order to receive addons. A complete addon plane, which includes a lot of systems and all the switches, cost something around 70 euros.
Microsoft could have done every single plane as complex as a payware one of course, but then your FSX copy would cost you more than 500 euros. What do you prefer ?

PS: and of course, you didn't notice that some of the "simple" default aircraft of FSX are completely payware quality (and even better, look at the Cessna, the Beaver or the Goose), and their cockpits are almost completely modelled...
