The crashes dont work anymore

I just got finished putting all my AI together and getting it situated. Part of the game is to weave in and out and round planes and buildings at busy airports.

I took my eys off the screen for a moment when I was making a turn and slammed into the back of another plane but instead of the sim saying a crash had happened, I passed right through the AI plane.

So I tested a few places and it seems now you cant hit anything and have the sim serve up a penalty

I dont want to crash into buildings and planes on purpose but part of the game is to do it right and if you mess up, you get told you mess up

Yes, I have the settings for detect crashes and damage enabled and I have allow collisions with other aircraft unchecked so it has nothing to do with settings

This really ticks me off  >:(

I thought it all worked in RTM and never really noticed in SP1 until now

Am I missing something or has this feature been disbaled? and if so WHY?

The settings clearly say "detect crashes and damage" but its not working!

Quoted from above......

Surely you need to leave this checked, not unchecked......

I just landed the 747 in the middle of a Seattle suburb and it passed right through all the buildings, houses, trees and landed fine.

The only thing that seems to invoke the crash is hitting the ground too hard

I wonder whats wrong with my sim

Yes, if I hit a city skyscraper head on I get the crash, but not on all buildings

but I dont get it if I clip something, which is what is important to me.

Perhaps I will try other aircraft. Maybe it has something to do with the 747

I did it as a test  ;D

I am going to have to test several different planes in several different areas and see if the results are the same

I do know one thing for sure, they dont have the crash damage modeled into the aircraft anymore, at least on the planes I have tried thus far. I dont see any wing breaking off like it did in FS9.

annoying when you upgrade and features are removed with the settings saying they are there  [smiley=thumbdown.gif]

Yes Alrot

That is Phil Taylor the head of the FSX dev team at Aces.

I want to ask everyone to please remember he is not tech support for FSX or Microsoft products.

When he is here, he comes by to see what issues people may be discussing and what people are doing to overcome problems. This helps the dev team further understand and outline goals for updates.

Mr. Taylor is very easy to get along with. He is also a sim user as well so his interests are more than just professional. He has a real life too.  ;)

Please remember that if he decides to post it will be for good reasons and is not here to fix your sims.

Please show the proper respect and maintain proper forum edict when he may post. It was very nice to see him sign up to these forums and his presence is greatly appreciated.

as for the crash issue.. with AI check and make sure the aircraft have contact points. Some AI leave out the body contact points.

And i also noticed they removed crash features but I have not looked into how much was removed as of yet.

What about your sliders in the Realism settings? Put them all the way to the right and check if you can still fly through stuff. If you can still not crash, either consider your self lucky or pretend your a ghost plane  ;D

Phil hasn't posted here in a long time...

If you want his attention, join FlightSimWorld.  Phil posts there quite regularly, and is very friendly. ;)

This isn't an invitation to flood FSW with new users, I'm just saying he posts there often, and if neccesary, you can join to ask him a few things...
