According to the online System Requirements Lab I can not only run but play FSX. All of the statistics show that my system is more than capable of running FSX. My specs are:

Windows XP Media Center 2005 SP2
Pentium 4 3.2GHz Hyper-Threading
1GB RAM
GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB

SO what do you think. Dd you trust the Lab? Can I really play it?

I'd have a go, but the RAM will let you down....2Gb needed tbh....

Agree absolutely.  And you then should be able to run it great.

RAM sticks have to match.

So if you can afford it, get two 1 gb sticks of quality RAM either 800mhz, or if your wallet runs to it, two sticks of the  fastest 1000+mhz RAM.  Cougar or similar.

Then enjoy.

I know about my RAM. SO I think I am one of those people that can run FSX that easy? WOW didn't know the capabilities of my machine. I might get a stick of RAM soon. ;D

I have the same hardware, excepted that your video card is much more powerfull than mine (I have a 6800 GT)
I could play it before SP1, and with SP1 it's even better.
The only problems:
- 1 Gb of RAM is a bit limited, so you get a lot of micro stutters because of disk activity, and longer loading times
- the proc is not powerfull enough to build the scenery. It's OK when you fly a little GA aircraft at slow speed (less than 150 knots), but if you go too fast, you will get blurries on the ground and the autogen will popup very near to the plane.

Other than that, I can really ENJOY it, not just watch a slide show, see what I mean ? For now, I cannot enjoy a real flight with a liner or a fighter plane, because of the problems written above, but I really get a lot of pleasure and fun flying those slow aircraft (GA and gliders) across the beautifull default and non-default FSX scenery :)

But WARNING: tweaking FSX is MANDATORY.

You will be able to run it fine. Your sticks don't need to match but it could save some heartache.  I ran FSX just fine with many payware addons with a single core AMD San Diego at 2.75, 2 GB ram, 7800gtx. I did run it with 1 GB and it was ok. Im yet to install FSX now that I have a dual core cpu, a new HDD, and some monster OCs :P

You will be able to play it and enjoy it (not max it, though) but don't push the resolution above 1280 x 1024 or you'll have lots of blurries and low fps (your gfx card doesn't have much memory). More RAM would also help!

Definitely want to budget for the RAM. I just added a gig of RAM today and FSx is smoother than FS9 ever was and my machine isn't near as good as yours. 2.8Ghz processor and Radeon 9600 GPU. I have most sliders about mid way and it's playable with reduced resolution textures and a few tweaks. I can't really tell the difference between the default and low resolution textures.
