Sea planes - more specifically manouvering.

Postby retrovertigo » Wed Jul 25, 2007 4:32 pm

I am struggling to do some sea plane missions, as once I collect a passenger I can't then place myself ready to take off. I know you can get the rudders down to give better steering, but I could have sworn you could do shift=p to get reverse going. However, shift=p just tells me "this cannot be moved by tug"

Is it just a question of verrryyyy slowly making sure I am exact as I collect someone, or am I missing something obvious? Thanks.

Shift+P is for pushback. For example in real life if you are in an airliner sitting at a gate you call for a pushback and a small tractor/tug will come and push the airplane back so you can taxi out. No such thing for seaplanes. They usually have a canoe paddle you can use but that's about it. FSX is better about the water surface. In FS9 the water was like sticky molasses. In FSX it's just a little less sticky but you still have to use the throttle and rudder carefully to get turned around. I find it easier to use short blips on the throttle and judicious rudder to turn on water.

Ah ok, I was kind of "parking" if you like between the jettys. But then of course I couldn't then reverse out and was stuck. I just need to make sure I approach side on and I'll be fine. Cheers!

I got stuck there when I did the float plane mission. In real life you would just give a good push from the dock as you are climbing aboard.
