Wow. I've found some strange thins looking around in the FSX textures folder. Check em out:

1. This is the 737-400 in orbit livery. Haven't seen em in-game and the 737-400 doesn't even exist in FSX.

2. I found textures for an F-18??? Where did these come from???

The fuselage

The wings

Notice the right wing has a hole in it for some reason...

And the tail

3. And I found a Japanese and a US pilot form CFS2. Any ideas why Microsoft put these in FSX?

4. and finally textures for an MD-80 that doesn't even exist in FSX.

And I only opened the BMPs. I;'m sure theres more weird stiff in the .dds files.

What do ya make of this stuff??

Yeah that might be true, but 2 problems:

I made my AI aircraft flyable, and none of the texs show up for them.

And also if you look in the AI tex folder none of these are there.

Whats the point in making them flyable? The flight dynamics are so poor.

These are also in FS9. No idea what they're for though...

Yeah, I noticed those too...

Maybe they are there just in case they need them later?

And the F-18 textures might be the ones used for the carrier aircraft.

They might be used for missions

F/A-18s are almost certainly for the Aircraft Carrier ones.

You'll also notice, if you look in the effects folder (FSX/FS9) there'll be a file called tracert or something like that.  Those are the bullet effects for CFS.

This proves largely that FS and CFS are probably based on the same engine, just with many changes which say 'I'm a civilian sim', or 'I'm a combat sim'.

I can clarify this guys.

You see, these texture files are from FS2000. That Orbit -400 is the default texture for the 737 in FS2000. The MD-80...seems to be a static aircraft from FS2000. F/A-18 may be the same from the ones that took off and landed on the aircraft carriers in FS2000. Those two pilots are in there, because back in FS2k2, they added the Sopwith Camel and F-4U Corsair as bonus aircraft.

Hope that clears things up. ;)

But hold on. If the F-18 was from a carrier, why is the right wing damaged?

What? I said something about sound files.....

Well anyways, I think An-225's right. The liveries and the US pilot are from FS2000. But that still doesn't explain the Japanese pilot....oh well. Thanks for the replys guys.
