It's your hardware....

processor 1.8GHz....need about 3.2GHz
RAM 1Gb................need about 2Gb
Graphics 128Mb......need at least 256....but 512 is better

FSX is resource hungry.....thats your problem :(

In terms of processing speed, why 3.2GHz? My system has 3.0GHz, a far cry from my old HP that was 466MHz :-( Not sure if I could ever put in a 256MB card, but 512MB is definitely out of the question. Still, I like flying FSX with the settings I have at the moment.

3.2 was just a random figure.....

RAM is most important...2Gb is a must for FSX with decent quality

Yep, that's what the The Official Guide of Microsoft Flight Simulator suggests.

You need a new computer let's just put it that way :( I bought a new computer just for FSX after it came out

Your laptop is pretty good (for a laptop), but to make fsX run well you're going to need 2gb of RAM and a faster videocard. The X700 is very, very slow by current standards so you'll need a new one. I do not think you can upgrade to a better videocard in that laptop though, so I would just stick with fs9.

If you want an actual hope for fsX, running it well WITH future addons you're going to need atleast a dual core processor,  2gb of RAM and a decent videocard. Preferably DX10.

With those specs you are going to have to spend some time to make FSX work the way you would like. You may never get perfectly smooth performance with all sliders maxed out but some simple tweaks like reduced textures and turning some things down in the settings you can get it flyable. Check out the forum posts from back when FSX first came out and you should find some help.
