Released the game unfinished. Make new SP2

So I am not sure if anyone else is aware of it, but I have found a few glitches in the game that take away from the reality and can be quite frustrating.
1) One is during the night, the cockpits are to bright. I was wondering if there is a quick fix. It would seem like there are two layers of cockpit lights on the panels which is making it too bright. I will explain why I think that. While in the 737 at night I turn off all of my lights and then press "P" for pause. While in pause then I press Shift and "L" to turn on only my panel lights. I then see a much lower lighting level and more realistic panel lighting arrangement. This is how it should look and does in the real aircraft at night. I only wish it would stay like that. Then when I push "P" again to turn off pause, the overly bright lights will come back on. Darn, only if we could get it to stay on that lower level of lighting. Makes it easier to see outside at night too. Is there a way to fix that?
2) Another thing is on the 737 there's no way of manually turning on your nav lights (your green and red outer wing lights) without just pressing "L" to turn them all on at the same time automatically. I try to do it realistically and manually and that was frustrating knowing they forgot to add that switch.
3) Also, why did they forgot to make the taxi lights work on just about all of the planes? The landing lights do work, but not the taxi.
4) Also, when you turn off all of your lights, the glass screens should still glow, correct?
5) This is just something I would like to see for more realism... when you turn on your generators in the larger jets, shouldn't there be that whispy air engine sound?
6) One last thing. On the 737 at night the windows are not lit up from the outside. Can that also be fixed?
I still love the game, but was a little disappointed when I saw these things. I hope that these issues can be addressed in a patch or new service pack. Please let me know if anything like that can be fixed or if there is anything I can do in my files.

There are new cockpit lights for the 738 and CRJ on AVSIM bundled in repaints.
2) Another thing is on the 737 there's no way of manually turning on your nav lights (your green and red outer wing lights) without just pressing "L" to turn them all on at the same time automatically. I can do that...in the VC on the overhead.
3) Also, why did they forgot to make the taxi lights work on just about all of the planes? The landing lights do work, but not the taxi.
The taxi lights work for me.
4) Also, when you turn off all of your lights, the glass screens should still glow, correct?
Hard to do that. I can live with it.
5) This is just something I would like to see for more realism... when you turn on your generators in the larger jets, shouldn't there be that whispy air engine sound?
There's dozens of soundpacks for the 737NG series out there, maybe one of those contains the desired effects.
6) One last thing. On the 737 at night the windows are not lit up from the outside. Can that also be fixed?
No.
And there won't be something like a SP2, only a DirectX10 patch. But that one probably won't contain any bug fixes.

I just want to make sure we are both talking about FSX right? Because I have no idea how all these things are working for you.
So I will check out AVSIM for those new panels. They dont by chance have a new lighting setup for the 747 do they? I was so disapointed with that one. They just used the 2004 panel and threw an overhead light on it. Ahh so lame.
On the 737-800 that came with the game, I cant turn on the last two lighting switches on the right while in VC which are labeled WING and WHEEL WELL. So you can turn those on? Please confirm that. I would send picture if I knew how to import a pic on here.
Also, in the VC, I can turn on the taxi light switch, but nothing will happen or light up. The taxi lights should be coming from the front wheel. I wrote to someone at Microsoft and they apologized for this issue and they agreed that it was left out for most planes. So if you are seeing and using your "TAXI" lights, then please confirm that your FSX 737-800 taxi lights are or are not working. Then I will know that that guy at Microsoft was either BSing me or didn't know what he was talking about.

You don't seriously expect these people to make a second service pack just for some lousy lights, do you?

PTaylor did say in a recent BLOG post that "content" issues will be addressed in the DX10 patch. He didn't elaborate about just what "content" actually ment but, just that he would begin to discuss it at a later date.
So, perhaps some bug issues will be addressed? I guess we all have to wait and see.

PTaylor writes in an email to me:
"There is a known bug with the 737 and A320 wrt taxi lights,
unfortunately."
Yes as a reliable company (Microsoft) yes I do expect them to come out with a completed reliable realistic product like they have done in so many of their products. Yes I do expect them to come out with fixes for known bugs that FSX has that even FS04 didn't have. Don

Nyet.
Checked the lights again. Taxi lights don't work indeed, as do cabin lights. Neither do the wing and wheel well lights. But then again, I don't care about it 'cause I fly my planes from the VC and not the outside and mostly at day. Plus, my current airliner of choice is the CRJ anyways.
If you want an in-depth simulation of 737NG systems, spend fifty bucks on the PMDG 737 series.
But don't expect every switch to work in a MSFS default aircraft.
And no MSFS sim was ever perfect. Hard to achieve with a sim of a size of MSFS.

I am fairly sure the DX10 patch will also work on Windows XP (Without actually doing DX10 of course ;D ).

DX10 was made to work with Vista not XP.
It will change the entire way video is processed.
I don't think XP can support DX10.
You will definitely have to have a separate high end video card.
I think you also have to have the Vista 64 bit running.

If its Vista 64 bit, then there will be an explosion from all around the flightsim community. Most of us have Vista 32 bit installed although I know that some members have Ultra.
However in all the posts in the forums and Phil Taylor's blog, all that I can find is that DX10 comes bundled with Vista - all varieties and 64 bit is not specified.

So I'm still using old XP. What are the benifits of the Vista for game play and what not?
