Uh, anyone know a real A321 pilot? 'Cause we really need someone to test this and see if its right.

Last night I took a flight in the default A321 around KEDW. Shortly after takeoff, and climbing to about 5500ft AGL, the autothrottle engaged, preventing ANY control over my engines. And get this. There was NO WAY to turn it off. Soon after this, I started to lose control over my plane. It started levelling itself as I was trying to turn into the pattern around KEDW. I had lost almost ALL control of the plane, and the flight computers inhibited my bank to less than 2 degrees. No, autopilot was not on. I then tried to move my rudder. Nope, that wasn't there either. So I turned off ALL flight computers, and what do you know, EVERYTHING started functioning as in the default 737-800. Rudder was there, I was allowed to turn off the autothrottle, and...the plane became an Extra-300. I flew with this for a while, before lining up for approach, at which point I turned the flight computers back on. Everything was going fine at that point, until I noticed that I was doing 200 knots. While my throttle was idle, and I was pitching up. I had just crossed the runway threshold at KEDW, and there really was no other option but to try and land, at 200 knots.

Well I am no pilot but I can say with certainty that should not happen. I have not flown FSX that much but do know that should not happen. I have a pay ware A330/A340 with a fully working FMC and it will not do that. 8-)

... wow. Yea.. I doubt that's supposed to be happening. Never had this problem so I can't tell you anything but man that is weird..

did you have another flight previous to this and have the autopilot on?  Sometimes when you do this, the autopilot settings tend to be retained, even though the AP isn't on in the new flight....

Nope. And besides that, the autopilot does not inhibit your flight controls to that degree.

Default A321 is not very good (Flight dynamic and gauge wise)... Untill someone modifies it so it isn't a rocket, and the fly by wire isn't mentally retarded, I wouldn't use it at all.  ;)

The functionality may be a bit limited (it's an Airbus, whaddya expect), but the flight dynamics are quite nice. Without the computers engaged, the Airbus flies like an oversized jet fighter - quite true to reality.

I would easilly imagine that a smaller plane like the A321 would be even more manoeverable...

I've experienced the same problem with the airbus a300 series auto throttle as well.  It usually happens to me when I'm on short final.  And there doesn't seem anyway to disengage.  I've stopped flying them for this reason.

i have had this same problem. i was flying the paris air show mission and as i came in to do the slow pass the auto throttle engaged and i went to 300 knots and therefore failed.

Disengage the auto-throttle and speed hold mode.
