Runway Lights....I don't think this is right....

Does anyone else have this problem with runway lights going out into water??

Their the approach lights for the runway. They have to go over the water as thre is now were else to put them. Most major airports and their runways have these approach lights to help the pilot track the center line. Check San Fransiscos airport (KSFO).

Wow, I feel like an idiot  ::) I had no clue they actually put them in the water. How do they stay there??  :-?

I am not quite sure but my guess would be that their concreted to the bottom of the earth under the water or they might be floating devices anchored there to stay in position.

Usually they are mounted on a dock or pier, so that maintenance guys can get to them.  Nothing magical about it.
